“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
Samuel Adams (posted by just me)

WOW! Thank you for sharing that magnificient quote. I thought I had read all the great quotes of our founders. That was profound and so relevant to our present situation. Too bad the only Sam Adams these college coters know is Samuel Adams Boston Lager. www.BlackJFK.com

If someone wanted to be really conspiratorial, they could make a case that this whole “text voting” phenomenon so popularized on American Idol, and other reality TV shows, may well have been astrategic attempt to condition young people to get excited about voting.....and in places like Ohio and PA, voting many times. lol!

Sheesh, I still can’t believe Florida became a Blue State last night.

Why? It’s full of ‘snowbird, non-practicing Jews’ who hate Israel.

I realize that, but FL voters have been able to overcome them in the past. Something else has changed in Florida with the electorate. I hope the Cuban-Americans are still mostly Republican, but I don't know. Maybe this particular election was a fluke... an outlier.

FL FReepers: Do you know what has changed with the FL electorate? How "blue" is Florida now?

Hubby and I were thinking of someday moving to FL. Right now South Carolina is looking better to me...

Texas might be a good choice as well.

But it is American Idol and that is why Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul did not cut into the run. They do not look good on TV. For that matter neither can McCain.

Gov Charlie Crist (R) refused to watch ACORN and he’s a RINO who’s driven Florida into the ditch except for our Rays baseball team. He goes to games. He doesn’t lead. He didn’t help McCain hold Florida.

I get the feeling a lot of people think this whole “election” thing was a TV show...That things will be the same tomorrow, next week, next year just as it was yesterday, last week, last year...

I don’t think some people believe this WAS reality.....

Americans are about to find out why the office of the president should not have been an affirmative action hire.

That is a very good video, funny and it gets the message across. I wish it was on the net months ago because the younger generation would watch it.

TX is glad to have any patriots who are interested in keeping conservative ideas alive. OK is actually more conservative then TX, but we have the pretty ladies and much more to do in your spare time. One last thing, you should be pro death penalty or willing to convert.

“A democracy will continue to exist until the time that the voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.

“From that moment on, the majority will always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

We should have listened to the old guys..

Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There was never a democracy that did not commit suicide.

OK wouldn’t work because it is land locked. If conservatives around the country moved to SC and GA, we would have good sea ports and those states are rich with the remnants of our venerable founding fathers. We have no reason to “unite” with the left. To do so would be an egregious compromise before our Maker. Let us take SC, GA, TX and the Marxists can have the rest of the country to live out their communist, utopian fantasies.

The problem is that they need us because they wouldn’t have enough people to plunder; someone would actually have to do the work. That’s the vexing problem with communism. We certainly don’t need them - but parasites cannot live without a host. http://www.BlackJFK.com

That theme idea has the idiocy of this down. Half of we Americans voted for the most powerful and responsible position in the world as if it was the American Idol popularity contest.

It doesn't help that nearly all the media -- including the conservative media in most part -- cover politics as PROCESS, and that coverage makes "politics" into a Survivor TV show. Petty, debasing, all about process.

Process is not ideals, process is not character. We are told (AND WRONGLY) that it is impolite to discuss politics at work, in social gatherings, at family events. Where then do folks learn how to think about ideals, policy, political ideals. Not discussion about 'Issues", for issues are momentary, issues are process, issues are superficial. Ideals, policies, philosophy -- politics.

bvw's advice to all -- TALK POLITICS EVERYWHERE. Remember POLITICS is ideals, policies, philosophy. It is NOT election process, it is NOT issues.

De Toqueville said Americans were always talking politics, everywhere.

The disease we have is that we longer do, no longer talk politics everywhere. Too many Americans are spoon fed a faux 'politics' from the mass media and this idiotic and utterly dangerous election shows the sad result. We have to bring back REAL AMERICAN POLITICAL DISCUSSION EVERYWHERE.

But don't use all caps in discussions. Doesn't work well.
