They’re very sneaky. They’d tell James and Vlad that they could have cookies, but then, Whoops!, they’d already eaten all the cookies I ordered for us. So then I’d have the byos howling and dribbling and writhing on the floor, so I’d send someone out to the truck of the car to get a box that was waiting for delivery ...

Got a lot of work ahead on the photos (and other things, sigh). Here's one, at the western terminus of M.G. Road (Mahatma Gandhi Road) in Bangalore. A member of our parish used to attend the church in the background.

Probably it is, though that was one of the cleaner scenes in Bangalore. The street scenes in Bangalore are not pretty, but some nice places exist behind the rundown facades. I’ll have some more pictures this afternoon.

That looks much more civilized that Islamabad/Rawalpindi...cleaner, too This was just a couple of blocks away (in the viewing direction of the previous photo, somewhat to the left), a view out of my hotel window in the early morning. it's a stark contrast to the night before, when the streets were filled with people -- it's apparently a "happening" place, and the shabbiness is not so apparent at night amongst all the bright lights.

Even that is cleaner than where I was. Though going to and coming from, one could expect anything. The freeways were immaculate, but it was difficult for me to be on the “wrong” side of the road.
And the people, no matter what part of the province I was in, were “clean.”

There's a difference then. There were places in New Delhi much worse than this, but I didn't see them in Bangalore. Few people living in "tents" here too.
No freeways in Bangalore -- traffic is a terrible problem. Everything is measured in "time to get there", in a city that our drivers said that 20 years ago he could cross in 15 minutes.
The people are fairly clean, except for the toilets. Indian toilets are a horror.
Being on the left side of the road doesn't bother me anymore, not after visiting then driving in the UK & Australia, and visiting Hong Kong. Interestingly, mainland China drives on the right, Hongkong on the left. Many accidents there...

Here are some shots from the expo I attended. The sign in the second photo is in Hindi, Kannada, English, French, Italian and and Chinese (traditional, I think, meaning Taiwan -- it doesn't look like mainland Simplified).

"Ibsen" and "Laugh" are two words I would never have put together in a single sentence. I still recoil in horror from the class reading of "Ghosts" some 35 years ago...
The name of the company in the middle picture is suspicious. "Carrier" is a well-known American company. "Caryaire" sounds like a knock-off, though they have become respectable in their own right.
