Amazing what one can find trolling through the dumpsters, eh?
:O)
P
Well, I just added 2 more.
Also had a bit of a scramble this morning as microsoft patched that WMF exploit overnight and about 6 of mine rebooted to login screen after patching. GRR.
Could that have happened to my computer? It was running fine when I went to bed. I woke up at 6:00am, and it was off.
If you're running it as a service, you don't have to login to have the F@H client start back up...
Possible, however it's a somewhat complicated group policy change for it to automatically shutdown after installing updates rather than just rebooting. More likely your power blipped.
I just have a crappy computer then, that just shuts down whenever the mood hits it.
Multi boot machines that have no timeout on the "select operating system". I meant startup, not login. I have machines with localized version of XP(English, Japanese) as well as a few 2000/xp dual boot ones. The normals ones came back and churned just fine. I also have GUI machines, but those are my own personal machines and two in my office. 10 consoles, 4 guis.
Hooray!!!
Is the power in your house flaky for some reason?
We have the worse electric company on the planet.
We didn't lose our lights last night, just this computer shut off.
Hmmm. I'm inclined to believe you that it's the power company, but it might be worth taking a walk around your house - see if there's any large trees that might be hitting the lines when the winds blows, or some such...

Excallent - got the smurf in me sights :)
"Excallent"? Hmmmm....
We've had squirrels blow the small transformer on the pole twice since we've lived here. Ahhh, the joys of country living. I talked to hubby about a battery back-up and he said he'd get me one with his next roofing job. That is what I want to do. Our company is too unrealiable.
I went ahead and did as you said , so running two folds on my Hyperthreaded P4. I accidentally stopped a long one (Tinker?) that was running in the GUI but I moved all the work files over to one of the console folders and it seems to have picked up where I left off in the GUI....wew..there was about 18 hours of work there. Frames were taking 5-6 min on that one, but are now taking 8-9 min. A little slower, but taking that other Fold I now have running in the other console into consideration, I'm still doing more work overall!
let me know if your new approach ends up with more points
my guess would be that you still produce the same amount of points/day, but work on 2 WUs instead of just 1
.
