This woman is certainly not representative of the bulk of the people still in New Orleans, but there are, no doubt, some people there who just gripe and gripe and gripe about anything and everything people do for them.

Everyone should donate, generously, but I would never take a woman like this into my home, no matter how desperate she is.

I haven't eaten every MRE entree there is, but all the ones that I have tried are edible without heating. Anyone who turns it down on that basis just isn't hungry enough yet. Which is fine: it leaves more for the other people.

Well now that's just plain silly. You don't really believe that there is anything inside an MRE packet is not suitable for consumption by soldiers in combat unless it's been heated, do you?

I suppose if you're using the statement "unfit to eat without being heated" in the sense of being spoken by "GI's griping about their entree while looking for someone nearby to trade with," you might be correct. :)

People who are in need of food could do a WHOLE lot worse than an MRE a day.

I saw a lady on O'Reilly going off over having to eat MRE's. All I could think of is that my own sons have lived off of those for weeks at a time defending while she can't live a few days off of them? America is in more trouble than we realize.
