We put a small refrigerator freezer on the porch to cut down on going to the kitchen. It holds about 3 cases of cans and plenty of room in freezer for ice and hard liquor.

Been there done that. I was a residence telephone installer for South Central Bell in my 20's. I have seen things under a house that I'm still trying to forget. I also used to do renovations and additions on the weekends with some friends.

I don't think I'd be using such a freezer for booze - I just don't drink much anymore.

VENISON, otoh...

But if I put in a reefer, I'll need to make the porch itself pretty damned secure. Lotsa lightfingered bastiches in the area.

We have a large freezer in the house for venison and pizza. The one on the porch is about 2 cubic keet of freezer and maybe 4 cu ft for fridge. Stainless doors, black case, and frost free.

I was 6' 2" and maybe 180 lb but still I could and still can crawl through an opening the size of 1 concrete block. Be sure to remove your belt first to avoid panic. I arm and head through first the other arm.

Money is why I waited 6 years after the house was built. But I did the porch for around $3500 including the fridge.

I love to do these kind of projects and take my time with them. I'd never pay someone to do something I like to do.

I shudder to contemplate the possibilities...
Pete's last foray into this parodic line ("Torg Latnameless and the Chamberpot of Secrets") was painfully funny

A friend of mine that makes a living doing things like this said he would have done the job for around 7k since I am his friend. He would have charged 8.5 to 9k to someone else.

*shrugs*

I never liked roofing.

my error was to believe it'd cost me less money to pay a local crew than it would (in lost wages) to take time off work and do it my damned self.

boy, was THAT a dumb error.

NEVER again.

I roofed for two summers when I was in high school,(probably against the law now). I roofed the lake house in 77 and our double bay boathouse in 91. I roofed my sister's house when she was broke after her divorce back in the 80's. I wouldn't roof anything bigger than the porch project now that I'm over 50.
