If you're going to spend the money for a router...get one that can be used with a wireless card. We got one in May at Radio Shack. The wireless one was only $10 more than the non-wireless, and it had a $20 rebate. It's a Linksys Wireless G...It's VERY EASY to install..I did it..LOL Huh? Now you're confusing me again. Just what do I need? Okay, Nic card, router, but now you are throwing in wireless. So does that mean I don't need a second Ethernet cable?
p.s. Radio Shack? My experience is that anything is cheaper any where else.

you can call the local telco and ask them to put a diagnostic box on your line because you have poor phone line quality, or ask them to test it for you. Generally speaking when you have phone line issues they will install a box there that they use for diagnostics.
This may cost you some money if they find nothing wrong, which in many cases they don't find anything wrong - even though there is something wrong. This all depends on how your local telco deals with this type of stuff.

Basically I need to know everything that I will need for the Ethernet. That includes EVERYTHING such as firewalls, etc.. I will add up the total cost. If it comes close to $100 then perhaps I am better off with a newer computer although I hate to change from something I am used to.

Instead of a hardware firewall, you could use a software firewall like ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm - it too will stealth your connection from prying eyes. For about 50 bucks you can get zonealarm security suite, which also has anti virus that works better than Norton or Mcaffee, a cache cleaner, and several other useful utilities.

We are only TEN DOLLARS away from forcing Jupiter and Saturn to align on the South Node Degree! This will ensure the downfall of the B*sh administration! The last time this alignment was forced (by holding hands with others of the unwashed and chanting Eastern prayer while eating tofu and never bathing or wearing shoes) was the downfall of Napolean (a Bu*h stooge) and before that we caused the fall of Imperial Rome. Rome, which was a creation of BushCo through Karl Rove's time manioulation device, was finally brought low by ther glorious indiginous and communal barbarians. Their lives were examples of social justice, coupled with our alignment of Jupiter and Saturn on the South Node Degree, together we brought Imperial Rome crashing down. We can do it again, but only if YOU SEND MONEY NOW! Your TEN DOLLARS can be what puts us over the top and brings BushCo. down! Don't delay, send your TEN DOLLARS now and we can ensure, through astrological alignment that we finally have our day in the sun! Send your contribution to the below address:

Geek Squad kills me. I applied for a job with them but they claimed I was not qualified. Funny, but just after that the US Navy picked me up to be one of their Advanced Systems Administrators, we've got responsibility for 3,000+ machines on this site alone.

I had to skip the red stuff, and just read your comments. Man I got a headache just trying to understand any of it. I suppose I'm just not enlightened enough (or drunk enough, or stoned enough...)

Aha! They weren't able to! And even now, if you look at how nuts all their predictions are (and how they are all over the board, too), even if 99% of them are wrong, 1% will be right. And it will be "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....astrology predicted this!!"
I think the DUmmmies are really lame on this one.

And it will be "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....astrology predicted this!!"I also can predict the future. All I have to do is predict enough crap and some of it will be right. Then I point to my correct prediction and ignore the 10 million that were wrong.
