Apparently that is one of the side effects of pancreatic surgery...changed taste buds.

The taste bud's connected to the pancreas, the pancreas' connected to the real ass...

No mention of radiation or chemo...hmmmm

I have a couple of rounds of chemo and radiation to go through...but the doctor said I should be fine.

Oh, there's the mention of chemo or radiation. Only a couple of rounds, Andy? You got lucky.

I assume we are allowed to ask that again.

Thank God they have plenty of free expression over at DU, unlike the oppressive fascist domain of Free Republic.

How is he feeling?

He feels good, he feels great, gonna have the world on a plate, starting here, starting now...

You know, whenever PJ mentions Andy singing show tunes, I always picture him having a voice like Ethel Merman. His time in the ICU must have looked and sounded very much like the hospital flashback in Airplane.

Well lets see...

[Consults medical textbook so he knows how he's supposed to feel after pancreatic cancer surgery]

but my appetite is coming back

Must...not...make...obvious...joke...

I still have another pahse of treatment but the doctor is confident I will make a full recovery.

Wow, not only one of the vanishingly small percentage of pancreatic cancer survivors, but the only one known to medicine who has gone 5 months without treatment or weight loss and then survived it. Truly Andy, the Force is with you!

[Recuperation from NON-CANCEROUS pancreatic surgery is fairly rapid, Scamdy. BTW, why no thank you to all the suckers you conned for a Johns Hopkins pancreatic cancer operation that you did NOT need?]

It is pretty sad...if the DUmmies are half as generous and caring as they say they are, he could have raised the cash just by saying, "I have a mass on my pancreas that needs to be removed. Can you help?" They can blame us and their tombstoned exiles for "slander" of Andy all they want, but the real fault is his for hyping and their's for believing someone they know has stolen fundraising money before.

Appetite is a good sign...

Must...not...make...obvious...joke...

Yes it is...although I have found my tastes have changed...

Let me guess...filet mignon every night?

pineapple and papaya are the best for you and not cooked, either. you gotta keep your weight up, my dear.

Must...not...make...obvious...joke...

Somebody used to tell me that carrot juice was really really good for you.

It was just coincidence that the guy made his living selling carrot juice.

am eating like a madman the last couple of days in fact I ate dinner and I am hungry again.

Must...not...make...obvious...joke...

[Yeah, all that “chemotherapy” is giving you quite an appetite, Scamdy.]

In all seriousness...dead on proof the cancer was a lie. If they removed cancer he'd be up to his frontal lobe in chemo drugs. If they removed some other mass (which he and his doctors would have known was NOT cancerous) he would be hungry because his body would need extra intake to accomplish the healing.

My job right now is to get well...that is where my focus must and will be.

But then...back to verifiable paper ballots!

And I am glad it all worked out in terms of getting great treatment. You gave of yourself and that inspired others to take care of your best interest.

You gave of yourself, and only asked for underwear in return.

Hint from a recent surgery patient: Get a neosporin scar patch at the pharmacy. I had a hysterectomy last year and my scar is 100% gone! This is an amazing product.
[Don’t give Scamdy any ideas. He might end up hitting on the DUmmies for another $50,000 for a hysterectomy operation.]

Yes, I can see it now...

"Dear DU family,
I am brokenhearted to tell you that my doctor has diagnosed me with fast-growing uterine cancer and a radical hysterectomy is needed immediately to save my life. Though the survival rate for this particular cancer is stunningly low and the survival prognosis is miserable, I will gladly take the time to wait while you send me money so I can get this done at the Mayo Clinic instead of at any of the medieval butcher shops that they call hospitals here in Seattle.

Thanks in advance,
Andy

P.S. Anyone who asks why I need a hysterectomy when I am clearly male will be tombstoned immediately, and I will turn them in to the government along with that mean old Bev Harris.

P.P.S. I am expecting to eat a lot post-op, even though large amounts of chemo will be all that saves me from certain death. Please send a hearty dessert or entree recipe along with your donation.

P.P.P.S. Gore Vidal says, "Whattup, homies?" He's soooooo cool, isn't he?

Hey I have ICU and scar pics...

Hmmmm...well, none of that would disprove what has become clear, that he screamed "cancer" when there was none.

And sounding so chipper, too!!

Give me $50,000, and I'll sound awfully chipper, too.

I'm serious, it works

Got John Kerry sworn in on 20 January, didn't it?

have been doing that. I am using a screen nightly to screen all the bad stuff from my body. I

More show tunes! "Gonna visualize that cancer right outta my hair..." How about more classic show tune action from South Pacific? "Some enchanted evening...you will scam the DUmmies, you will scam the DUmmies with a website cancer plea..." "Once you have the cash, never...let...it...gooooooooooooo!"

I know visualizations work...

He visualized himself counting $50,000 in small bills, and lo and behold...

You do Scamdy a disservice... I think he's collected far more than $50,000 through this venture, and until we see full and complete accounting records for every donation and expenditure, I'll maintain that as a stipulated fact.

I'm sure I will be tombstoned for having a differing opinion than the people on this site

It's called a "ZOT" in the real world, DUmmie.

I do not know the truth truth any more than you guys do

And exactly whose fault is that? Care to take a guess? As I said before, Scamdy could have cleared this up a long time ago. It requires only a few documents. A diagnosis of 'pancreatic cancer' dated prior to the money shill, and a verified accounting of the money collected.

There is only one reason that this hasn't been done and I leave that up to you to discern.

Any crap about privacy etc. etc. should be left on the doorstep. The FOA have been posting supposed 'proof' for weeks and none of it has been worth a tinkers damn.

My question is that are surgery and chemo done together for these types of cancer? I thought doctors mostly did one or the other, but usually not both at the same time. It's my understanding that chemo is usually done instead of surgery.

My sister had cancer a year ago (second on 11 yrs). They did a lumpectomy and checked her lymph nodes. It had not spread and they followed up with chemo and radiation. She still has not regained her health and has developed new problems as a result of the radiation.

Bob...I have no problem with that, but most everyone else is being hateful and spewing bile.

You ARE a regular at DU, right?

Projection: The psychological condition of naive or unconcious attribution of one's own feelings, attitudes, or desires to others. (It's in the dictionary, look it up)

I see you are still around.

How long after asking questions about Andy did you get to stay until you got the axe?

You disparage FR, Yet your dissenting voice can still be heard here.

There are those on the left that are also questioning this Andy thing. In fact, one of the mods at Scamdy.com put in his profile that his website is the Daily Kos. That Scamdy site is made of those on the right and left. Even back on May 17, Will Pitt himself posted his doubts at DU. He had all kinds of questions.

Don't crow too loudly about how great and open FR is. "Xaos" apparently got banned. I asked the moderator to explain why. I didn't see any reason for it, and if we are to contiune saying how open we are, we shouldn't kneejerk ban anyone with an opposing viewpoint. As long as they are civil, of course.

So unless xaos was swearing or posting porno on some other thread, I don't know why he got banned.

I didn't think s/he was banned. I clicked on his name and got his/her about page. It does not say banned or suspended. I went by that.
