I think it would only be bothersome if you considered yourself among the "small cadre" he mentioned. It seems there is only a problem with maybe a half-dozen of the more than a score creationist regulars on these threads. The rest seem to be able to carry on somewhat civil discussions, which, though they may become heated at times, never stoop to obvious trolling for flame wars.

<1/1,000,000th% ...

Saying I'm not a conservative? Saying all I've ever posted are personnel attacks? Overgeneralizations about you - me that I take exception with !

Evolution is a personal attack !

If you don't believe God is the Creator - almighty ... it is impossible to be a catholic --- you are only fooling yourself !

And if you believe anything but the work of Jesus Christ can save you ... it is impossible to be a Christian --- you are only fooling yourself !

All other embellishment and spin is anti God and Christ --- liberal bias make believe !

I don't think you have enough character or principles (( to much flux - evolution )) to qualify for hypocrisy !

Evolution is a personal attack !

Interesting...

I wonder if anyone else wants to agree with the notion that expressing a scientific opinion constitutes a personal attack.

In either case, the problem is neither the Bible nor Darwin, but the monsters themselves.

I wouldn't blame Darwin for monsters (Hitler et al) but there is an absolute universal morality --- that is accurately described in the Bible -- to which we are accountable.

Societies that reject this morality become horroific.

Societies that reject God soon reject this morality.

Questioning Genesis or pointing out contradictions it has with contemporary scientific knowledge is not rejecting God or His law.

'Christianity has found itself quite compatible with slavery as well as the anti-slavery movement' I'm not suggesting you took it out of context; but I'd prefer if the full thought were quoted, and not half of it.

Fair enough, but my position remains Christianity was never compatible with slavery and that the fact true Christians found themselves to be slaveowners only shows that Christians still must deal with the world and are still capable of sin.

I'm going to go on a limb and say that no true Christian was ever a slave trader.

Simply picking up where I left off browsing in the Biology textbook hearings thread:

To RWP: Thanks. We'll just toss you in the same agenda driven racist dust bin that nutballblue frolicks in.

(No, "nutballblue" isn't gore3000.)

An interesting post, not from ALS:

Hmmm... How many threads were deleted in the last three days (while I was gone?)

The chain of replies from that one is amusing.

ALS on ThinkPlease's refusal to debate politics (Stalinism) on a thread about science textbooks:

From here.

I wasn't aware my opinions mattered so much to you. However, since you've turned down my attempts to draw you into a debate on science in the past, I will have to turn down your attempte to debate on politics on this thread. Unless, of course, you'd actually like to debate science."

translate that: Evolution is neither science or politics, and I can't give a reasoned response to post #202, so all I can do is continue insulting the intelligence of everyone including my feeble attempt at one.

The first paragraph is actually ThinkPlease, quoted. The second paragraph is an ALS "translation." Twist and Shout.

A revealling exchange:

dogbyte posts to ALS on not rejecting science. A reasoned essay.

ALS's flip rejection.

ALS makes a snide remark to Patrick who is urging evo restraint.

dogbyte notes the irony.

I could go on but I know when I'm wasting my time. The real challenge would be finding any ALS posts that aren't insult, spamming for his website, or at least off-topic. I notice that I still haven't made it off of July 10. Less than a day of ALS. But lets wander ahead a little bit to July 16.

By the way, you have nothing to prove to me either. If you don't want to give your definition of science, that's fine since I didn't give you stats for homeschooling. I just love ticking you evos off - its give me pleasure.

Whoops! That's exmarine, not ALS! Unpunished bad behavior seems to be catching.

It's just silly to blame ideas for behavior...Ideas seem to melt away in the face of desire.

A man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest.

(OK, someone put in the Hokie Sixties Song Reference placemarker)

I wonder if anyone else wants to agree with the notion that expressing a * scientific * opinion constitutes a personal attack.

Material atheist ideology is not science ... God created science and they don't attack - conflict --- only leftist ideology hate rhetoric does immensely !

Evolution methodogoly and politics is a blackout of objectivity and CONSERVATISM --- a whole lot more than an attack !

They mock Bible believers and suggest that their "scientific" theories are superior to the Word of God.

Actually, we state that scientific theories are superior to some folks interpretations of the the Word of God. There is a significant difference between this and what you posted. However, I'm beginning to dispair of certain folks being able to discern such nuances.

And, I don't attack "Bible believers;" I believe in the Bible. However, I have a sore spot for fundamentalists and their particularly narrow view of Scripture. Chalk it up to having grown up Catholic in the South.

The incorporation of the Bill of Rights through the 14th amendment applied it to the states . . .

It's a very safe statement to make that those who wrote and voted on the 14th amendment never in their wildest dreams imagined that it could be used to throw the Bible out of public schools or remove a public display of the 10 Commandments.

(Stalinism)

Before I get jumped on, the Stalin post is another recurring ALS theme but that's not the one ThinkPlease was refusing to fool with at the time. I confused the two.
