Another great reason to live in the Republic of Texas! Enter my house as a career criminal, or any other form of threat to my family, me or my property, expect to leave shot! When a person gets a piece of paper saying they are employed by the government that doesn't magically give the person a right to initiate force, threat of force or fraud against people. In common sense and natural law it is a crime to initiate force, threat of force or fraud against any person.
Any edict contrary to the Constitution is null and void per Marbury v. Madison. So the "law" he broke is no more legitimate than the "law" that said Rosa Parks had to sit in the back of the bus.
If anyone broke the law here, it's the corrupt politician in New York. It is a violation of federal law to attempt to deprive anyone of their civil Rights, which is exactly what is happening here. If he worked with others (quite likely), he's not only guilty of that law, but also of conspiring to violate someone's civil Rights.
He showed irresponsibility in having that gun and should be denied the right to have any further "registered" guns in the future by having a criminal record.
Maybe he actually believed we lived in a Free country like our politicians tell us.

I would have bet a million $$ (if I had it) that the "the law is the law" contingent was going to show up on this thread.
Each person of the contingent has a vest interest in status quo establishment politics. You already know this so I post it for others who may not.
How is it that people and society in general have prospered and increased their well being for decades yet the politicians and bureaucrats say we must have another 3,000 laws and regulations each year... That without them people and society face "disaster". People and society have done quite well without next year's 3,000 new federal laws and regulations. Why all of a sudden can people and society not continue to do quite well without them? The fact is, they'd be better off without 99% of them.
So who really benefits from 3,000 new laws and regulations each year? -- not to mention state laws and regulations. Politicians and bureaucrats. They create boogieman problems and with a complicit media towing their boogieman problems cast a net of false fear and unwarranted despair in people.
Quite literally, they create problems where none exist. They're sick in that they chose to frighten people and foist false despair on them and do that to collect their unearned paychecks. Their job security is predicated on deceiving as many people as possible.
Voting for the lesser of evils always begets evil. How can so many people thinking they're right be so wrong?
Wake up! Politics is not the solution -- politics is the problem.

How many folks can honestly say that they break fewer than 10 laws a day?
When all the laws you don't know about, as well as the contradictory ones are taken into account, I wouldn't be surprised if that number was closer to 100.
If you doubt it, just watch a car driving in front of you for a couple of miles and see how many edicts they break (speeding, not using blinker, etc....).
And just who gets to determine who is allowed to exercise their God given right and who doesn't? The government? You? If you have to ask the government's permission to do something, then it isn't a right any more, it's a privilege, and privileges can be revoked at any time for any reason (or no reason - just the whim of a pompous "we take this very seriously" bureaucrat).
Gun confiscations have always been preceeded by registration. Even in the good ol' USA. NYC forced owners of semi-autos to register them in 1976, and then in 1999 confiscated them. To think that registration will prevent criminals from getting firearms is extremely foolish. Registration will not prevent criminals from obtaining firearms, and is not intended to prevent criminals from getting firearms. It's purpose is solely to allow the government to (unconstitutionally) keep track of the firearms of law abiding citizens for eventual confiscation.
They create the problem, manipulate the reaction, and then propose the solution (which invariable consists of more tyranny). That "solution" then creates more problems and the cycle repeats.
Problem. Reaction. Solution.
Not to mention, that most of the world considered (and still considers) men like Jefferson, Adams, Otis, Washington, Henry, etc.... to be "lunatics".
This man was in the process of registering the gun! WTF about that don't you understand? He had moved from FL where the gun was legal! What's he supposed to do with it in the meantime? Get your head out of your a$$ and realize that the government isn't always right and we have to stand up for what is!!!!!
