This thread shows that I have a very high regard for the church of christ as do a number of threads from CoC ministers I've posted over the years.

You apparently have not read nor understood the entire thread. The issue was that someone said methodists were not christians just because they're methodists. (Which is silly if we believe we're saved by grace through faith.)

I asked those who said it what denomination they were and they wouldn't answer the question. The only way I found out Tony MIGHT be CoC is because of his website.

I asked a CoC friend (and others) if they thought people were saved on the basis of grace through faith or on the basis of denomination. Every one says salvation is not based on denomination.

Do you believe it's based on denomination?

No I don't believe salvation is based on denomination - it is grace by faith.

I can understand where the people are coming from in these statements but salvation is available to all who follow God's will.

I try not to get into the judging of people in other religions although I feel most are not following God's instructions.

The Bible tells us to believe and state that Jesus is the Son of God, repent of our sins and to be baptised for the remission of those sins.

Now, why would I chose to say ok I will believe, accept Jesus, repent of my sins - but I don't want to be baptised?

I don't believe that the actual immersion in the water is what saves us - what saves us is the following of God's instruction to do this step.

Remember the instruction during the battle of Jericho - encircle the gates seven times and the walls will fall. They did not fall by encircling six times or five but seven in the exact pattern that the Lord specified.

I feel this is done to show that we follow what God specifies and therefore show faith.

There are many that manipulate, ignore, change what the Bible says and claim that their way is better. However, why do they do that? What is wrong with the Bible?

I will leave it to God to determine if their chosen way will get them to heaven.

I'm not arguing with your beliefs about baptism. (I don't agree with them if the idea is "baptismal regeneration" but that's a different subject.)

I was arguing with your slamming me with that blurb about not picking on TonyTigger. I wasn't picking on him. I was challenging the stupid statement that President Bush couldn't be a Christian because he's a methodist.....which Tony went along with.

Then there was his apparent fear to announce his denomination. If you're gonna slam someone else's you should at least have the integrity to say what your own is.
