Drug laws won't be on the fall ballot, but tobacco money will

A carefully planned and well-financed campaign to overhaul Michigan's drug laws crashed Tuesday, as the state Supreme Court declined to place the issue before voters in November.

Without comment, the court upheld decisions issued last week by the Court of Appeals and a state elections panel to keep the drug question off the ballot.

Asprin kills people.

Robert's Sweet Myth-tery of Life novel wasn't very good, but I don't think it killed anybody.

"The campaign's amendment called for the creation of a new Section 24 to Article 1 of the state Constitution. The state Constitution already has a Section 24, adopted by voters in 1988 to protect crime victims' rights."

Drug use can impair spelling and reading skills.

In your opinion, were Stalin, Mao, and Ho leftists?

And who had the pictures of the three above in their dorm rooms during Vietnam while smoking their joints.

Hillary, Abbie Hoffman, the weather underground, Bill Clinton, Jane Fonda etc. etc.

It was the dope smoking hippies who idolized Stalin, Mao, and Ho.

Isn't it ironic that people tend to idolize those who would make them suffer the most in the end?

Marxism has been very unkind to queers, Jews and blacks, yet they idolize the current day marxists. It simply proves to me that people are just too stupid to have the power to legislate at will. That's why we have a Constitution to limit government powers. If we ignore the limitations, the result will be nothing short of a complete disaster.

The limits were set by men who are far smarter than any politician of my generation, and light years smarter than most voters, and yet we are arogant enough to think we know better?

No better system of government has ever been concieved, yet our arogance denies this, and we will destroy it, trying to make it "better".

Any one here with even an ounce of honesty and decency knows that the WOD is unconstitutional. Yet there are many here who lie, and twist words to justify the violation. While it's scary enough to know that there are some among us who would intentionally destroy the U.S. as we know it, to think that there are many that do it unwittingly, through ignorance or arogance, is the most terrifying of all.

I simply refuse to participate now. I will sit back and watch your kind destroy what's left of America and pray that when the breakdown occurs, I can survive the hostilities and live to see the rebirth of freedom and the restoration of constitutional government.

Oh well I don't live in the logical fallacy that "drugs don't kill people". I'll take my world over yours anyday.

I never said that. If you have to resort to outright lies and fabrications to make your point, please don't bother me.

It must burn you up that in your world of moral equivalence that I can go "ruin" my body by eating a burger and fries, while your precious and benign(according to you) marijuana is still anathema to a great many people.

Enjoy your fast food, and savor the freedom that you have the right to do so without the Government interfering. A right that you have no moral qualms defectating upon.

What burns me up is that the Federal Government is violating the Constitution, fostering additional crime, taxpayer expense and corruption in order to keep marijuana illegal. All to tell us that the State owns our body, and we have no right to put whatever we want into it. $20 billion dollars a year...for THIS? To put 700,000 non-violent users in jail, when we have terrorists trying to destroy our country and our way of life? If the violation of the Constitution doesn't outrage you, Dane, then obviously nothing will.

Enjoy your fast food while you can. The way the Nanny State is growing with the help of Socialists like yourself, there will come a day when you won't even be able to enjoy that.

Drugs also reputedly cause emotional instability.

Yes, your kind does consider love of the Constitution and States Rights to be a flaw that must be eliminated. After all, it takes a village, right Roscoe?

So have you stopped taking barbituates and beating your wife, yet?

Yeah, it must be really hard for you to pick up that bottle of scotch after you've beaten the crap out of your wife, sore hand and all. Or do you use brass knuckles?

There isn't any Constitutional "right" to use illicit drugs.

A statist court thwarts the will of the people on a technicality and you cheer. What a lowlife.

Some people call the 4th amendment a technicality. Sorry if these judges followed the law.

I guess you're in favour of criminalizing alcohol, tobacco and caffeine, among other things.

Nope. Just keep on keeping on the fight against illegal drugs. The BATF has enough to worry about.

Our federal government has no constitutional jurisdiction to enact prohibitive drug laws.

Thanks for the cut and paste. You drug warriors like to use the constitution like Playdough, you only stick the pieces that you want on the table. FYI, this was a STATE ballot inititive struck down by a state body, and that action was then confirmed by 2 appellate courts. Ain't nothing unconstitutional 'bout that.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Legalizing Pot In Canada

Last week, a Canadian parliamentary committee recommended that the government legalize the use of marijuana. What do you think?

Asian Man "If they do legalize pot, they're gonna be the world's number-one economic power in no time, 'cause you can make anything out of hemp."
Dan Zorn

Young Woman "The last thing we need is a glut of web sites explaining how, if you watch Strange Brew while listening to Rush's 2112, it all matches up."
Erin Parker
Biologist
Old Woman "I just hope no marijuana slips into the U.S."
Doris Atkinson
Librarian
Old Man "I'm gonna toke up, sit back, and watch the geese."
Bob Edwards

Young Man "Yeah, I heard about that. They're doing the same thing in Canada."
Cameron Davis
Welder
African-American Man "They're legalizing pot, plus they already have free health care and almost no crime? Now, why exactly do we always make fun of them, again?"
