Yup. That electoral college is all that’s saving us from fraudulent ($)elections at this poin.......... Oh!? One county, one vote for president. THAT would at least force libs to actually get off their asses and go to these places. 🤔👍
Compacts are not prohibited, but they require the approval of Congress.
The Compacts clause was a check and balance against a Senate of the States, where Senators were "ambassadors" of their states who were sent to Washington to negotiate deals with other states via their own Senators in the pre-mass communication era. These "deals," or compacts, would have to be approved by the whole Congress before they could take effect.
In the post-17th amendment Senate, the Senators were disconnected from their home-state legislatures, making their role in negotiating compacts irrelevant. Today's Senators are more interested in pushing their donor party bloc's agenda, leaving the state legislatures to directly join other states in compacts such as the National Popular Vote.
However they got there, they are still interstate compacts that require the approval of Congress.

As such, there is no motivation for those in elected office to represent anyone other than those who voted for them. The only possible motivation they could have would be their conscience / ethics / moral compass, and we know all of those things are rare in politicians.
