Blockades are acts of war. Sanctions are a gray area due to differences in how they are enforced.
I think both are fine to use against hostile countries, but they are indeed acts of war.
In case anyone has forgotten, it was Iran that declared war on us way back when. I don’t recall that they ever UNdeclared it, so in this case, blockades and sanctions are self-defense to PREVEMT acts of war against us. US being Western Civilizaton.
ron paul acts as though THEY are the victims, when in reality, they are victimizers. When a sitting US Congressman sides with the enemy against his own country, that is called treason...and pretending that you are crazy fools some of the people some of the time, BUT...
preveNt. Muh bad.
When have sanctions ever accomplished anything? It seems to me it’s always a cursory step before the bombing begins.
Ron Paul is an act of stupidity!
Ron Paul is a nuttier version of Pat Buchannan. He would have supported Hitler. It sure smells like the congressman is not only weird, but an all-out anti-Semite.
LOL. You have a wonderful way with words.
Many people have the misconception that sanctions are an effective means to encourage a change of behavior in another country without war. However, imposing sanctions and blockades are not only an act of war according to international law, they are most often the first step toward a real war... According to the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) latest report, just out this month, there is no evidence that Iran has diverted enriched uranium from the peaceful and lawful generation of power toward building a nuclear weapon.Besides being a liar, he's a RINO and a CINO.
We haven’t had 10 years or peace, under your definition, since we were founded.
A lot of it is from active duty US military personnel.
Crazy uncle Ron fails to grasp the obvious. Iran has been at war with the U. S. since 1979. Iran is an existential threat to the Untied States. Period. Even the hapless and totally inept Jimmy Carter understood that concept.
Some would argue we have been at war with Iran since 1953.
