Good, then my post had nothing to do with you but was directed at those who support the JACKASS party both north and south.

Actually it did, since it included a blanket accusation that all Confederate sympathizers are raciest and (poss. secret) democrats.

The reality is, the majority of those Confederate solders were not slave owners, and were fighting an invading armed army that intended to do them and their families great harm. Their starving families, burned homes, and ruined lands proved their fears correct.

Sure they are....DUmocrats of then and now seek to split apart this nation. Both then and now the party actively seeks out America's enemies to join them in that cause.

If what you say if true I guess you might want to pick and choose your patriots and costumes at "Tea Party" events.

The Democratic Party emerged under Thomas Jefferson in the 1790s (is considered to be the founder) in opposition to the Federalist Party. It initially drew most of its support from Southern planters and NORTHERN FARMERS. This form of the party remained in power for most of the time between 1825 and 1860. Some of the early members included John Quincy Adams (1825-1829), Andrew Jackson (1829-37), Martin Van Buren (1837-41), James Polk (1845-49) and Franklin Pierce (1853-47). and James Buchanan (1857-61).
The platform opposed Alexander Hamilton's fiscal policies in the early 1790s of the Constitution, and a weaker federal government. The party arose from opposition to the policies of the ruling Federalist Party, which was dominated by Hamilton.

You might want to check out what the Federalist were about. From what understand the early Democrats were more like the Republicans of today.

The Klan wasn't started to bring anyone to justice, quite the opposite....not sure where that revisionist history is coming from. The hooded thugs were formed by southern DUmocrats to terrorize anyone sent to impose law in the south.

and what kind of law was that? Lincoln was opposed what the privateers did to a ravished south. We are still reaping the fruits of that are we not?

I have a question, have you ever lived in the south? Have you considered this war was fought by flawed people, learning (and making mistakes) about governing a "cutting edge" nation that would become a beacon of light to governments of the world.

I doubt you would find in either regions today, very few to be the same persons as those that fought in the Civil War.

Carter is my middle name but I don't think it's the same line. Ours came from VA, my g-great grandfather was born in MO and then they settled near Crossville, TN and some went into KY. Family rumor has it some ran with the James-Younger gang but that's just speculation.

My TN lines are Carter, Farmer, Hamby, Dennis, Lindsey, Parker, Scarborough and more. My KY lines are Howard, Jones, Carter, Pennington, Muncy and more. Great to meet you. I won't hold your Carter family against you! ;)

There are people who believe that the preservation of current United States boundaries is more important than the US Constitution. I'm not one of them.

“At this rate “Don’t Tread on Me” tattoo will disqualify you soon.”

No doubt. They’ll want “politically reliable” troops if they ever have to turn them on the people.

The Robert "King Carter" and Elizabeth Landon Carter line is out of Virginia. Corotoman Creek. Landon Carter went on to prominence in early Tennessee history, despite those disreputable dealings in the land office prior to statehood.

Regardless, this debate is for moot. The CMC doesn’t like ink, and what he says on this goes. Applicants also get rejected for tattoos of girlfriends’ names, nautical stars, tribal designs, and Pokemon characters. I would advise any teens considering getting tattoos to bear this in mind if they are thinking even idly about enlisting.

Well stated bump. Thank you for your service.

I’ve seen you race bait over the south here for years...nice dodge though.

and it’s not the Stars and Bars ignoramooose.

It’s the Confederate Battle Flag.

I can get you up to speed free of charge..just ask.

I keep copies of Gone with the Wind at the ready and Bedford Forrest prints for free (no kidding on the latter...I used to publish historical art)

The tee-shirts in question had the American flag on them.

Maybe we should just form a new Confederate Marine corps and make the Rebel flag tatoo manditory. What the hell.

“looks like the nest got their email alert

they were a bit slow on this one”

Yep. I believe it.
BTW, I enjoyed my first trip to Mississippi since the year before Katrina. I was suprised to see the large number of big trees left on Old Highway 90. Of course practcally all the old mansions are gone but many have been and are being rebuilt. Even Waveland is making a nice comeback. And not least, Jeff Davis’s house is looking good!
And to top it off, I came home with more money than I left with!

Rebel Marine Corps Service during the war:

Confederate Marines saw their first naval action aboard the CSS Virginia (USS Merrimack) off Hampton Roads, Virginia, March 8 to March 9, 1862, and near the end of the war were part of the naval brigade that fought at Sayler’s Creek, Virginia.

From the Drewry’s Bluff and other major posts (Wilmington, Charleston, Pensacola, Norfolk, Galveston, and Savannah), Marine detachments were parsed out to serve on major warships and for special operations, including the captures of the USS Underwriter and the USS Water Witch, and an attack to free Confederate prisoners of war being held at Point Lookout, Maryland.

The end of the war found most surviving Confederate States Marines gathered together in Richmond in support of the last desperate defenses of the South.[13] Marines in Virginia were part of the General Richard S. Ewell’s Corps which fought with distinction at the Battle of Sayler’s Creek,[14] the last major battle before the surrender of Lee’s Army at Appomattox.
