promises promises bigot. Your way of making sport is akin to peeing your own pants and then pointing to it. Your mama must be so proud!

“Three hundred thousand Yankees
Is stiff in Southern dust;
We got three hundred thousand
Before they conquered us;

They died of Southern fever
And Southern steel and shot,
I wish they was three million
Instead of what we got. “

Yep. War IS Hell.

I'm surprised you left this part out.

I hate the constitution, this great republic too
I hate the Freedman's Bureau in uniforms so blue
I hate the nasty eagle with all the brag and fuss
And the lying, thieving Yankees, I hate 'em worse and worse

I hate the Yankee nation and everything they do
I hate the Declaration of Independence too
I hate the glorious Union, 'tis dripping with our blood
And I hate their Yankee banner and I fought it all I could

Hate the Constiontion (obvious), hate the Freedman's Bureau (helped freed slaves and poor whites), hate the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. flag and the United States (not surprising). What the heck are all y'all still doing here?

Noni:

My point in using that verse was that Yankees found out war could be HELL, as well. It works both ways.

As for the “song” by Randolph Innes, I think he was looking for something to rhyme. It would have been more appropriate if he would have said in some way that he hated the “Yankee Interpretation” of the Constitution. But he was a very bitter soldier.

By the way, it is expected, that the ex-soldier would “hate” the United States and the flag, as his country had been invaded, subjegated, and conquered.

(Libertarians love the Confederates)

Why on Earth would libertarians love confederates? Jefferson Davis ran one of the worst constitution trashing, big intrusive government, high tax, high regulation, fiscally irresponsible administrations in recorded history. The confederate cause was built on denying basic rights to one third of their population. It's supporters, while in the U.S. Congress, promoted government intervention at the expense of the states. The confederacy should by rights be an anathema to any real libertarian.

So where is he trying to rhyme Constitution or Declaration of Independence with anything? Nice try, but I think the screed speaks for itself. Innes Randolph hated the United States and everything having anything to do with it. But, like so many other ex-rebs then and since, he didn't hate it enough to actually up and leave the it.

And that's become the Southron theme song. Start a war, lose a war, blame everybody but yourself for the consequences. It's been going on for 140-plus years.

A lot of them DID leave it.
But many more of them stayed, but still felt they were right. My ancestors were among the latter.

Well, as to who started the war, that is subject to argument. And I will be the first to say that SOME of the blame is on the South.

Are you feeling your “oats” this morning Noni?
You seem to be in your “Southern-Bashing” mode, more than usual....:)

And a lot of those who stayed were like Randolph; have nothing but pure, bloody hatred for the country but stick around anyway. A lot of your cohorts are still like that.

Yes, I know I did, but you seem to be attacking as if I was “stand watie...:)

Seriously, I know of few on the “Southron” side that hate this country. Most are veterans like myself. It is hard to hate something you have bled for, even if you disagree....
That doesn’t mean I agree with the course of action the US took in 1861.
