And I'm a big Kiki fan for that very reason.

I think she's pretty darn good and the best of the amateurs left to us. Now, if we look at the pros then its a toss up between Jordin and Melinda.

I like Martina. She’s still out there touring. I doubt her schedule would work with a TV show. She’s a smart lady. I heard that when she was trying to get a record deal she sent a demo in & marked it “Requested Material”. They opened it & rest is history. But I always thought that was funny.

I do expect Paula to be replaced at some point though.

Hawaii votes like 3 hours after the West coast right?

That's how Jasmine Trias stayed so long in Season 3...

As much as I want dialidol to be right, it’s something else to wish for. Even though my husband enjoys the way I yell at the TV when he does it. I hate to take away his entertainment, but I’m willing to make the sacrifice.

Oooh! That is very, very smart!

I read some book about The Doors when I was in high school. They kept getting kicked out of some club they played at (The Whiskey, maybe?) and told never to come back. Someone in the band had a little sister and he would recruit all her friends to bombard the club with phone calls and ask when were The Doors going to play again. The owner would see there was a demand and always ask them back to play.

My husband and I both started imitating “The Chris Dance” last night. We were cracking each other up!! We are very easily entertained.

All the Pro dancers are really great. I’m sure the men are too.

What a pleasure it was to watch the Swing Dance program. It was a total knockout.

If you watched the “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” Cheryl and Edyta did last week, it too was HOT, HOT, HOT!

All these dancers are real athletes, attractive and highly skilled. It really makes for entertainment you can’t find anywhere else.

LOL! It just looks so goofy I can’t stand it. My husband is always telling me to “act nice” but he’s always laughing when he says it.

I think it’s Melinda and Jordin’s to lose.

If Jordin lost some weight she’d be marketable. Sadly Melinda may wind up being the most talented back up singer in history.

Exactly when else could he have done it? He didn't have the chit chat time with Ryan before his performance. I think it was sincere.

I think it was sincere too. He lives in Chesapeake VA...every High School in Tidewater must send 20-25 kids to Tech every year. I think he planned to say something all along but he was kind of thrown off by the judge's criticism, copped an attitude and then remembered he wanted to say something. It just came out clumsy, but I think sincere.

"That is so sad. :-( I don’t like his voice, but he’s just a 17 year old kid-I am tired of him being ripped apart by the judges (ie, Simon mostly ) when THEY are the ones who decided to put him through to Hollywood, and then on to the top 20. They don’t like his singing, so why did THEY choose to keep him???"

I saw the audition he did and he was NOT even close to being the weird person he has become. His voice wasn't that awful then and I think they may have passed him through because his sister was put through to Hollywood [probably one of those stories they like to keep things interesting]. He turned into this awful strange guy in Hollywood. His voice has become consistently and annoyingly worse every week as is his get up. It's become a joke, he's making the most of it and will probably make money from it because that's how these shows work. The weirder you are the more offers you get these days. I can't even imagine how painful it must be for Simon and the others to listen to and watch him every week knowing full well he is being voted for as a joke.

Also, I thought it interesting that Simon told Melinda to stop having that surprised look on her face when they compliment her which is what I've been calling the deer in the headlights look she gets which I find annoying. She has a great voice and will find a niche somewhere for her talent. Having said that it's entirely possible that none of the finalists are really American Idol quality.

IMO the best one last night was Phil and I haven't liked anything he's done up to this point. AI has been a disappointment this year as has Survivor. For some unknown reason I love these reality shows. DWTS is the only one which has been good each season so far!!

Sorry that got so long....

I heard the audition episodes, too, and he did sound pretty decent then. But what about the weeding out in Hollywood? Surely he didn't sound OK then, and only just start to suck when he was put through to the voting phase??? So unless his lousy voice now is a deliberate put on, I gotta believe he didn't sound any better during the weeding out-so why didn't they send him home with his sister??? It's like they sent him through for a joke-but now that the joke's going exactly as they should have been able to foresee , they think that's reason to snarl at the poor kid. I feel sorry for him, and I hope he gets sent home tonight. Being booed by a whole stadium-that's gotta hurt, no matter what your age. :-(

DialIdol says Phil is safe this week; I hope that's true. I want Jordin to win, but I'd like Phil to be one of the last voted off, because he's military.

I am so sick of Melinda's "deer in the headlights" look, too...She can leave any time, AFAIC. I think she's as phony as HRC's southern accent. Go Jordin!

You know I can’t remember his Hollywood audition stuff....probably for the best... I actually did watch all of it, so I can only guess he wasn’t that weird and awful so as to stand out to me at that point in time.

I think Chris will go home tonight. He’s been a bit boring and predictable as Simon would say. :)

Yes Jordin has the best voice of all of them. She’s a really beautiful girl as well.

I also forgot to mention Lakisha which I think some of you call Kiki..........she is beginning to have an attitude it seems to me. When they give her constructive criticism she glares back with daggers that could kill. JMO of course.

In the beginning I loved Blake because he was different but somehow he’s lost a bit of his originality.

Tony, Melinda's humility is not the problem. It's her look of surprise whenever someone compliments her. Most folks are more than willing to assume she may have had a tough life due to her awkward looks. But it's like Simon said -- after 10 weeks of being complimented, the natural expectation is that she wouldn't be surprised anymore. Fairly or unfairly, many people now see that mannerism as phony.

After that mannerism, the next thing people on music forms mention most often about Melinda is her "old" musical style. Few see her as fitting well either with today's pop scene or R&B scene.

BTW, is it just me, or did LaKisha murder JTTW last night? I may not be the best judge of her performance because I'm not into Country music much. But JTTW is not a power ballad, and LaKisha's singing doesn't have the subtlty and delicacy that song needs. I think Jordin and Melinda both could have done a better job with it.

To me, Jordin increasingly is separating herself from the pack. I also like Blake for his contemporary style and his obvious musicality.

Again..I agree with all you said.

(except for the Blake thing...I am not a big fan of his...I don’t dislike him, like I dislike Chris..but, I would pick Jordin over him any day)

I just listened to JTTW and it does have some power notes in it.
