About Me

I was born and raised in Minnesota. I lived in the Birmingham, AL area for six years in the '80's before moving back to Minnesota. But I hate winter, which makes me wonder if I'm entirely sane.

My wife Iryna is from Ukraine. We met on the Internet in 2001, and exchanged email for a few months. I visited her in Ukraine twice (the second time was about a month after 9/11), then brought her back to the U.S. We now have two wonderful kids: Aleksander (Alek/Sasha) b. 2005; and Anastasia (Ana/Nastia) b. 2009.

I considered myself a Democratic Socialist for about two years in High School, until I figured out what that really meant. Then I decided being a conservative is much better. So I've been a conservative now for about 35 years, give or take.

I've been a Christian my entire life and was raised in the Lutheran Church. My wife, having grown up in the Soviet Union, alternated between being an atheist and agnostic. We both attend a Lutheran church and she wouldn't miss a service for anything short of a tornado blocking our way. She is now a committed Christian and is growing in faith.

Christian musician, and one of the best guitar players in the world. Back around '79, I had the pleasure of giving Phil and Paul Clark a ride in my car from Decorah Iowa to Minneapolis.
