Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney, said on Wednesday that he is working on a book documenting his experiences with the Justice Department just a month after the release of his first book, which painted a highly critical and inflammatory picture of the president. “There’s so much more to the story that hasn’t been told, tangentially, related to Donald Trump,” Cohen told Politico in an interview on Wednesday. “It is fair and accurate to state that President Trump has weaponized the Department of Justice against those he deems to be a threat thus making it into the Department of...

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Hello, everybody. Please have a seat. Good evening. Now, before I take questions from the correspondents, I want to give everyone who’s watching tonight an update on the steps we’re taking to move this economy from recession to recovery, and ultimately to prosperity. Now, it’s important to remember that this crisis didn’t happen overnight and it didn’t result from any one action or decision. It took many years and many failures to lead us here. And it will take many months and many different solutions to lead us out. There are no quick fixes, and there are no...

I'm eagerly awaiting William Rivers Pitt's expose of Truthout, somewhat like the one he did on us that was entitled God Sees The Freepers I'm sure an honest, even-handed non-partisan guy like Pitt is OUTRAGED that the website Truthout would post such stuff about an innocent American citizen like Karl Rove...

Life long republican - Drive by troll
All my life, I believed in Republican values -- individual responsibility and limited government. Then it happened; I found myself with a small child, unemployed and disabled. I turned to my church, and after years of regular tithes, suddenly I just wasn't their problem. My Republican friends? I was now a pariah to them. My only relief was to turn to government assistance for housing, food, and other needs and I was able to survive with dignity. So chalk me up as one who no longer drinks the GOP koolaid.
  • How 'moving object' Bush crashed bike at G8 summit (new details emerge about Bush’s July crash)

LONDON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush was busily waving to security officers guarding the G8 summit when he swerved into one of them, leaving the hapless policeman on crutches, according to a British police report. Bush -- described in dry police style as a "falling/moving object" -- was treated for scratches on his hands and arms after he went tumbling on a break from the summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, last July 6. Although the accident was reported at the time, the police incident report, published in the Scotland on Sunday newspaper, gives further insight into the chain of...
  • Non-oil gains are still inadequate to offset oil losses

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use. The overall U.S. goods and services trade deficit increased from $58.0 billion to $59.0 billion, a 1.73% increase, and the third highest total on record. The aggregate figure masked some positive news. The rise in the overall deficit was led by big increases in imported oil, while the non-oil sectors of the economy, including hi-tech, manufacturing, and services, improved their international positions. Yet the August trade figures also show that these improvements remain far below the levels that would enable America to pay for oil and other imports from its national...
  • Documentary Questions the Existence of Jesus

Brian Flemming's "Bat Boy: The Musical" was praised by critics but appalled some fundamentalists with its references to incest and other dark themes. Flemming's latest project is just as likely to disturb conservative Christians. The 39-year-old Angeleno has made an hourlong documentary titled "The God Who Wasn't There." In it, the former born-again Christian argues that the biblical Jesus never lived, but is a mythological figure like Paul Bunyan. Initially released theatrically June 17, the documentary grew out of Flemming's research for a fictional thriller-in-progress titled, "The Beast." In that film, which he hopes to release next year, a teenage...

Yep, I'm a ragtop man BY DAVE BARRY (This classic Dave Barry column was originally published on Feb. 23, 1997.) I got a convertible. Now I know what you're going to say. You're going to say: ``Dave, you pathetic fool, you're 49 and you're having a midlife crisis. Trade that thing in immediately and get a car more suitable for a person your age, such as a 1910 Hupmobile with air bags.'' No, darn it! I LOVE my convertible! I've ALWAYS WANTED a convertible! For 33 years I've been driving boring cars, starting with my mom's Plymouth Valiant, which was...

VIENNA, Austria (AP) - Activists opposed to the death penalty scaled the roof of a soccer stadium named for Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday and unfurled a banner covering the California governor's name with the word "Mankiller." The activists said they were protesting Schwarzenegger's support for capital punishment in California. The death penalty is illegal in Austria, where Schwarzenegger was born and began his bodybuilding career. "We decided to pointedly protest the death penalty in California a few days before the U.S. presidential election" next Tuesday, said Peter Rosenauer, a spokesman for the group Resistance for Peace. "The Republican governor of...
