Rev. Bryan Fulwider, a former Winter Park minister who was recently arrested on charges that he repeatedly raped a teenage girl while he was her pastor, killed himself at his Altamonte Springs home, according to police. Emergency crews were called to Fulwider’s home in the 600 block of Post Oak Circle about 11:50 p.m. Sunday for a possible suicide. A Florida college student was suspended after he challenged a Muslim professor who claimed that Jesus’ crucifixion at Calvary was a hoax. Marshall Polston, 20, was suspended March 24 by Rollins College in Winter Park after an argument with his Middle Eastern Humanities professor over the historical validity of Jesus’ death, a failing grade, and a Muslim’s student’s allegedly violent rhetoric during a discussion on Sharia Law. The professor, Areej Zufari, claimed he was harassed, although video surveillance obtained by a local paper suggests otherwise.

A Winter Park homeowner shot a burglary suspect in the face Thursday afternoon in his driveway and a manhunt continues for two other suspects, according to police. Winter Park police responded to a residential burglary call involving three suspects around 12:30 p.m. on Williams Drive in the affluent Park Grove neighborhood, Sgt. Frank Cowart said. Winter Park is paying a consultant $2,500 a day to help the city's staff dissuade about 150 city workers from joining a union.
