The fence jumper who roamed around the White House grounds for 17 minutes before being apprehended by the Secret Service was able to breach security so easily because the sensors along the fence had been reportedly removed. The agency had removed alarm sensors along an area of one fence that the intruder scaled, according to two sources familiar with details of the incident. One source said superiors in the Uniformed Division told Secret Service personnel to remove the sensors and piece them together for use elsewhere. They were never replaced.

The accused White House fence jumper was on the White House south grounds for 15 minutes or more before he was caught Friday, a Secret Service source with knowledge of the matter told CNN Friday, and officials are investigating multiple failures that allowed it to happen. WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Secret Service says a person is under arrest after climbing a fence and getting onto the south grounds of the White House. The breach happened at about 11:38 p.m. Friday. President Donald Trump was at the White House. The agency says the individual – whom it did not identify – was arrested without further incident. No hazardous materials were found during a search of a backpack the individual carried.
