Costco has a new PowerStroke pressure washer powered by a Subaru engine with 3100 PSI and 2.4 GPM. It will be on sale starting today for $269, $30 discount. I was thinking of buying it instead of paying someone to power wash the house, a 2 story home. Is such a machine suitable for power washing a house? Thanks for any feedback.

We have a Maytag Bravos washer and I hate it. It takes to long to wash a load, no matter what the size of the load. The lid locks and you can't open it until an undetermined time period expires (seems to take forever). While doing a load of laundry, the machine just sits there and doesn't do anything. A complete waste of time. What type of washer do you have and do you like it? Would you recommend it?

5 years ago, I purchased an LG front load washer and dryer set. My expectations were as high as the price. About 2 years into it, the first washing machine failed and after many life intruding service calls, I got a new machine under the "lemon" provision of the warranty. This past Sunday, my "new" washer took a dump. Tub won't move. It will run an entire washing cycle and the tub never moves an inch. I have no warranty left and am not inclined to throw any more good money after bad. We're gong back to a top loader...

Today’s washing machines are considerably more economical than in years past, especially when it comes to the amount of electricity and water it takes for them to run. But for all the advancements made thus far, none have offered the efficiency of the new Xeros washing machine. Developed by Stephen Burkinshaw at the University of Leeds, this particular machine uses specially formulated nylon polymer beads in place of gallons of water. The beads are tasked with sucking away dirt and grease from the user’s clothing, and can be used up to 100 times (estimated to be six months...

I'm planning on buying a new washer and dryer in the next few months and my wife has always wanted a front loading washer. Everyone I talk to including my mother, my sister and my best friend's wife tells me whatever I do DO NOT get a front loading washing machine. I have been told they get mildew-y, they leak, they tear up easily and that they just don't clean your clothes as well as a good top loader. All my washers to date have been top loaders and, excluding a part here or there, have each lasted more than...

Brother and I will be moving into our house at the end of the month and have a washer question. We've heard that front loaders have issues with smell and continual cleaning, so we're looking at top loaders. Anyone have opinions on the new HE washers versus the older agitator models? Thanks up front.

There's no way to know what the parents were thinking. Maybe they were trying to scare their kid into good behavior. Maybe they were just goofing around. Maybe they thought it would be funny --there's a large sign hanging above the machines, saying "Junior Wash: $2.95." Whatever it was, it could have easily ended in tragedy.

I just ran across this handy little device and wanted to share with my fellow Preppers: This washer uses a technique of pushing and pulling the water through the clothes, without excess friction (which also reduces the wear on your clothes). This washer uses minimal water and because of the agitation motion, less soap. Use in a bucket, sink or tub. It also rinses your clothes using fresh water. A great item to have with your emergency and outdoor supplies.

The culprit is the federal government's obsession with energy efficiency. Efficiency standards for washing machines aren't as well-known as those for light bulbs, which will effectively prohibit 100-watt incandescent bulbs next year. Nor are they the butt of jokes as low-flow toilets are. But in their quiet destruction of a highly affordable, perfectly satisfactory appliance, washer standards demonstrate the harmfulness of the ever-growing body of efficiency mandates.

I need to buy a new washer/dryer set. Which is better? Top or front load? Thanks

Sorry to post a vanity. I have been shopping for washers and possibly a dryer. The utility room is only 52" wide. The prior owner had found a 25" Whirlpool washer and 26" GE dryer. The dryer still works. I would like to get feedback from others.

FL mom uses pressure washer on toddler; caught on tape Security video of mom using pressure washer on toddler There is some disturbing video coming out of Florida of a mother spraying her daughter with a high-powered hose. She has now turned herself in to police to explain what happened. Chilling surveillance tape of a mother and her child at a car wash in Orlando shows a mother turning a high powered hose on her 2 ½-year old daughter as punishment, police say. "It looks like the girl probably had an accident - urinated or spilled a drink." Police say,...

A Spanish researcher has come up with a washing machine that does not allow the same person to use it twice in a row, aimed at providing the perfect solution to those women who feel frustrated at having to do all the household chores. According to the BBC, the washing machine called "Your Turn" uses fingerprint technology to differentiate between users so that one person does not operate or load the machine twice in a row. Pep Torres, who was approached by a Spanish white goods manufacturer to come up with an innovative Father's Day gift said, that his invention...
