Sorry for the vanity; especially the vanity in Breaking News; however, I thought this important enough that it should receive high visibility. I have reason to believe that some Staff Judge Advocates and Special Security Officers are looking into the secession petitions at whitehouse.gov From what I have heard if you are on Active Duty and sign a secession petition, you will be pursued as being in violation of your contract. SSOs are screening the lists too; you can potentially say goodbye to your security clearance. Don't do this to be a smart ass, funny, or cute. Understand the gravity...

IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Yoav (Poly) Mordechai held a press conference Wednesday night and addressed the military operation in Gaza. He said the operation was launched "After a long period of several years of unbearable fire aimed at residents of the south, which has intensified even more in recent weeks, including launches aimed at communities in the South and attacks against IDF forces." Mordechai said that so far, the IDF has attacked dozens of targets, and noted that "the IDF operates with pinpoint accuracy to try to make as clean a hit as possible, but unfortunately some of the weapons...

The IDF fired warning shots into Syrian territory on Sunday after a mortar shell fired from Syria hit an IDF outpost in the Golan Heights. The incident follows a similar spillover from Syria on Thursday, when a shell from Syria exploded in Moshav Alonei Habashan. "Further attacks [from Syria] will illicit a vigorous response," the IDF Spokesman's Office stated. The military also sent a letter to the United Nations warning Syrian forces to be careful in avoiding fire into the Golan. Just hours earlier, Defense Minister Ehud Barak threatened that Israel would respond should stray Syrian ordnance continue to strike...

On Thursday, the White House denied that it had advance warning that embassies in the Middle East might be targeted for attacks on the eleventh anniversary of 9/11, Politico reported. "We are not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent,” Shawn Turner, spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, said in an email. A report in the Independent said that "the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may...

That attractive woman befriending you on Facebook? She may be a Taliban soldier in disguise, trying to squeeze you for vital information—at least if you're an Australian soldier, The Sunday Telegraph reports. An Australian government review found that Taliban had duped unsuspecting Aussie soldiers online, that 1,577 members of the nation's defense office knew nothing about it, and 58% of its staff had no instruction in social media. What's more, the review says, soldiers are too trusting online: "Most did not recognize that people using fake profiles, perhaps masquerading as school friends, could capture information and movements." The review also...

Sunday, March 25, 2012Blog comment: "...you are making a lot of potentially very powerful people very, very angry." In one of his last homilies, Archbishop Oscar Romero, the martyred Archbishop of San Salvador, said: "A preaching that does not point out sin is not the preaching of the gospel. A preaching that makes sinners feel good so that they become entrenched in their sinful state, betrays the gospel's call. A preaching that does not discomfit sinners but lulls them in their sin leaves Zebulun and Naphtali in the shadow of death. A preaching that awakens, a preaching that enlightens --...

Pictures and media taken from various sources across the web. Obviously, Paul Harvey's content was not created by me.) If somebody has plain audio of Paul Harvey monologue, I would greatly appreciate a link. Nothing is purer than Paul's golden voice.

Back in November 2010 Governor Palin delivered a speech in which she warned that Bernanke’s “easy money” policy at the Fed were resulting in rising prices and, if left unchecked, had the potential to cause Jimmy Carter style inflation, complete with Carteresque terms like ”stagflation” and the “misery index” that refugees from the 1970s remember all too well. Shortly after Governor Palin’s speech an intellectually lazy Wall Street Journal reporter, Sudeep Reddy, dismissed Governor Palin’s concerns and assured us that inflation was no problem, nor was it likely to be in the foreseeable future, he averred. This prompted a classic...

...Telling his listeners that the polls indicated MittRomney would likely lose the Michigan primary, the conservative icon said he wouldn’t be surprised if Romney’s demise gives Gingrich yet another opportunity to be frontrunner. Another great performance by Gingrich in a debate could turn the race around once again, Limbaugh said. “I think there's a possibility of something happening nobody's talking about -- and that's the reemergence of Newt. Keep a sharp eye. Anything's still possible,” Limbaugh said. “If Romney has trouble in Michigan... Now, PublicPolicyPolling is a very liberal polling group out of North Carolina. They say that Romney's gaining...

Democrats warn: Don't get cockyBy JONATHAN ALLEN | 2/21/12 4:27 AM EST Democrats have plenty of reason to feel good right now: The economy’s improving, the president’s numbers are up, their prospects for holding the Senate have brightened, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is confidently predicting that she’ll have a shot to regain the speaker’s gavel next year. Television screens and news pages are full of stories about new Democratic momentum. But on the ground level, Democrats’ newfound optimism is heavily salted with caution. The confidence is tempered by the knowledge that the political environment can change in...

Fed chief Bernanke issues debt warningBy North America correspondent Jill Colgan, ABC February 3, 2012, 11:08 am United States Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has warned that the US economy could face the same fate as troubled European countries if it fails to curb its growing debt. Mr Bernanke delivered a sobering assessment of the economy that defies recent attempts by the Obama administration to talk up the economic turnaround. Testifying before a House Budget Committee, he said the pace of recovery had been "frustratingly slow". He urged lawmakers to be more aggressive in reducing the nation's $15 trillion debt...

Consider yourselves warned. @GridlockSam, our favorite source of New York City traffic information, calls today "the gridlock alert day of the decade." It's going to be a traffic nightmare today as President Barack Obama is in town for three fundraisers, coinciding with the annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Obama is landing at JFK around 5 p.m., choppering in Marine One to Wall Street, and then attending three events in Greenwich Village, the Upper East Side, and West Midtown. Each neighborhood will be subject to a traffic freeze while the President is on the move. Plus, the area...

FULL TITLE: 'This isn't a party town!' WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama hailed Muammar Gaddafi's death on Thursday as a warning to authoritarian leaders across the Middle East that iron-fisted rule "inevitably comes to an end," and as vindication for his cautious strategy toward Libya. Obama joined U.S. politicians and ordinary Americans in welcoming the demise of Gaddafi, who was for decades regarded as a nemesis of American presidents, and also claimed some of the credit for the Libyan strongman's downfall. ... "This marks the end of a long and painful chapter for the people of Libya who now have the opportunity to determine their own...

An unknown number of the over 1,000 terrorists who are to be freed in exchange for Gilad Shalit will be allowed to return to Jerusalem. A group of concerned residents has responded by announcing the creation of an informal “terrorist warning system.” The system is simple: activists will keep tabs on freed terrorists, and will alert the public if they attempt to enter public areas or use public transportation. In addition, the terrorists’ pictures and personal information will be made available.... “The public does not know them, and they could wander freely. People do not realize that these are terrorists...
