DURHAM, N.C. — President Barack Obama promoted job creation in politically important North Carolina Monday, trying to assure Americans he's focused on their No. 1 concern — and his greatest political weakness — as his potential GOP presidential opponents prepared to target his economic policies in their first major debate. [snip] "I am optimistic about our future," the president said, even while acknowledging that "we can't be complacent." Obama announced details of a program to train 10,000 new American engineers every year, saying private companies will join the government to promote education in science, technology, engineering and math. They'll offer...

President Obama has authorized the use of aerial drone strikes in Libya to aid rebels fighting to oust dictator Col. Moammar Gadhafi, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced Thursday. Gates stressed that even though the United States will begin using the armed Predator drones in Libya, American soldiers will not be deployed to the country. He said the Libyan people will have to remove Gadhafi themselves, though the U.S. "can provide them with some cover from the air." The announcement falls in line with the Obama administration's pledge to not put American boots on the ground to remove Gadhafi from power....

"Noting the interdependence among peace, security and development, President Rousseff and President Obama reaffirmed their desire to build a just and inclusive world order, which promotes democracy, human rights and social justice." "They reaffirmed the imperative to modernize the international financial institutions in a way that reflects the changes in the world economy and moves towards global financial stability, sustainable development and poverty reduction." "They welcomed the strengthening of the collaboration on environment and climate change, including under the Common Agenda on Environment and the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Regarding Climate Change, and agreed to include in the Common...

Winston Churchill famously described fanatics as those who "can't change their mind and won't change the subject." It's an appraisal that also could be applied to those Americans who continue to insist that President Obama is neither a U.S. citizen nor a Christian....posted using frpa

SEIU brothers and sisters, As I write, 30,000 people are gathered outside of the Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin speaking out against Republican Governor Scott Walker's attempt to take away collective bargaining rights from public employees. Almost 14,000 of our SEIU brothers and sisters stand to lose their rights if Governor Walker gets his way: 9,000 nurses and nursing home staff, along with about 5,000 home care workers. They've been out there among the demonstrators all week. We've set up a page on our website that allows you to send a message of support to our SEIU family and everyone...

Most of the the nation was shocked during the 2008 presidential campaign when videos came out of Reverend Jeremiah Wright. After all, this was candidate Barack Obama’s spiritual advisor and mentor. The initial reaction was typical of our divided nation. Conservatives pushed the Wright videos and the Left tried to silence their importance. After a while people just got sick of talking about it. When the dust settled the accepted ‘reality’ was that Jeremiah Wright was nuts but Obama barely knew the guy and never heard any of Wright’s more extreme teaching. Today if you bring up Jeremiah Wright, eyes...

On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill that would give the Attorney General the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed “central to the activity” of the site — regardless if the website has actually committed a crime. The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) is among the most draconian laws ever considered to combat digital piracy, and contains what some have called the “nuclear option,” which would essentially allow the Attorney General to turn suspected websites “off.” COICA is the latest effort by Hollywood, the recording industry and...

Outrage is growing at the intersection of ideology and incompetence that is the jury's collapse in the trial of Ahmed Ghailani, declared acquitted in the murders of 224 innocents, including a dozen Americans. The outrage is growing as Americans learn more and more about how utterly avoidable this outrageous miscarriage of justice was. John Podhoretz's and Jennifer Rubin's criticisms are among the most pointed and both employ the damning word "debacle" in the title, and Powerline's Scott Johnson and John Hinderaker weigh in with "The Failure Option." Eric Holder who repeatedly declared his confidence in this process should resign and...

Specifically on the White House scandal again – I was told a report was coming soon. Something from a mainstream media outlet. Have you heard something similar? Where did you hear that? Your newspaper days coming back to you now? Just something I heard – reliably. Have you heard anything similar? (pause) Yes. Many people have. This thing is percolating just under the surface right now. Sooner – not later, the pot is gonna start boiling. Yeah, someone is about to test the waters with this thing. I’ve heard that. Then again, I’ve heard that for a while now, so...

Obama is speaking right now, and he is either clueless still or insane. The first question asked was not answered. When it was asked again, his reponse was, "that was the first questions; we will have others." WTF?He is either insane or lobotomized.Does he believe we will stop asking, or allow him to keep changing the subject? He is going on and on, filibustering the question-answer period to limit having to hear the HARD QUESTIONS HE REFUSES TO ANSWER.Thoughts?

Video of John Boehner's short speech at an Election Eve rally in Ohio. America's Patriots are Obama's Enemies. In all fairness, Obama did try to back track on his statement, but, only after John Boehner's remarks were published by Politico, in advance of his speech. Obama now says, "Now, I did also say if you're going to punish somebody, punish your enemies, and I probably should have used the word, "opponents" instead of enemies. Now the Republicans are saying that I'm calling them enemies. What I'm saying is you're an opponent of this particular provision, comprehensive immigration reform, which is...

Christine O'Donnell sent out an e-mail this afternoon saying Barack Obama will be returning to Delaware on Monday in a "desperate" bid to stave off the surging O'Donnell campaign. We just got word that Barack Obama is coming back to Delaware on Monday. He’s seen the polls and our grassroots fundraising. He is desperate to win this seat! Our campaign is on a roll and we are so close to winning. The momentum is gathering at exactly the right time.A recent poll showed O'Donnell narrowing opponent Chris Coons' lead to almost single digits from a high of 21%. O'Donnell surged from...

[Camron] was not briefed until shortly after 2pm, 10 hours after the package was found and 16 hours after Barack Obama, the US President, was informed of the threat. Only at 7:45pm was a statement released by Theresa May, the Home Secretary. (snip) There were also questions last night about the confused response from British police, who were only prompted to admit the package had been found after reports emerged in the US - 13 hours after the event. It was Mr Obama who broke the news that explosives had been discovered in the packages, a suggestion police sources in...

Federal agents arrested a man Wednesday for plotting to bomb the Washington, D.C., subway system, the Justice Department announced. It was the second arrest in as many days involving Americans hoping to wage violence for al-Qaida or the Taliban, and federal law enforcement officials believe it is part of a wider attempt to launch terrorist attacks. Farooque Ahmed, 34, of Ashburn, Va., was indicted Wednesday for attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization, collecting information to assist in planning a terrorist attack on a transit facility, and attempting to provide material support to help carry out multiple bombings...

... There have been many other instances -- too many to mention in this piece -- but I don't recall ever seeing the like of the disproportionate, unhinged attacks on Christine O'Donnell for her statements addressing the Establishment Clause in her Widener Law School debate with Chris Coons. The left couldn't possibly want that one Delaware Senate seat enough to match their vitriol. It's important to understand the context in which the Establishment Clause issue was addressed at the debate. Chris Coons said that only evolution must be taught in schools, and that intelligent design is prohibited from being discussed,...

President Obama and Discovery Channel announced today that the chief executive will appear on the Dec. 8 episode of Mythbusters. And surprisingly, the myth being busted has nothing to do with either Islam or Kenyan birth certificates. On the episode, Obama will ask Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to test whether it was possible for the Greek scientist Archimedes, as told in story, to have set fire to an invading fleet using a giant mirror and the reflected rays of the sun. Which forces me to ask: What the hell is the government secretly planning to do with a giant...
