No one seems to be sure exactly how many people packed the National Mall today for the Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear, but there's one thing everyone can agree on: sanity and/or fear are extremely popular. MTV's spokesperson told the Washington City Paper's Mike Madden that 250,000 people came out to see Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert take the stage Saturday, while Viacom (the parent company of MTV and Comedy Central, home to Stewart's and Colbert's show) told the New York Times' Brian Stelter that "well over 200,000" were in.... At the rally itself, Mythbusters hosts Jamie Hyneman and...

Can we assume that a bulk of the 450 to 500,000 illegals are living/sharing older one&two bedroom apartments with in low income districts? In Miami,it's common for illegals to be sharing one-bedroom apartments, often 5 to 10 living in one unit. And where do they get money? With a dire economy and housing market, what kind of work do they do? Are they committing armed robbery at convenient stores to support themselves? It's too bad no one in the Obama Administration seems to care that they are killing "Legal Americans" and getting away with it.

For those of you who followed my every word raptly (sarc) and wondered where I went--I'm back. Moved from NJ to SC and already saving tons of money. I hope "sickoflibs" picks this up and adds me to his list of "regulars". It's so good to be back. Especially given the conservative tidal wave overtaking the country. Come on November!!

When the Tea Party first started out, I was a enthusiastic supporter.. The Tea Party perfectly represented what my views are.. I'm a 100% fiscal conservative and I believe in small government on ALL issues. In the beginning, the Tea Party seemed to be such movement that would support candidates based on FISCAL issues. Initially, that was the case and people like Scott Brown have been elected. However, since then, it seems like the Tea Party Express and other Tea Party organizations have been hijacked by the social conservative wing of the GOP (i.e. Sarah Palin). Social issues were introduced...

Somewhere along the line, the notion was adopted, mostly among liberal media but more recently among fellow conservatives, that Mitt Romney represents solely the moderate, ‘establishment’ core of the Republican party: the Bush loyalists; the staunch GOPers. I won’t deny that Gov. Romney’s appeal is wide, and it certainly may spread to the more moderate branch of our party, but I refudiate the absurd conception that his base of support exists only in that branch. I see obnoxious headlines all the time now that predict Romney’s demise, tracing it all back to how he’s the GOP’s supposed ‘next in line’,...

In terms of gay marriage, Arizona's conservative image is about to take a hit -- that's according to a statistician who claims the trend in public opinion is shifting in favor of allowing gays to wed at a more rapid pace than ever. According to a study conducted by Hank Pellissier, a statistician at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, majority public support for gay marriage will be achieved in Arizona by 2015. In his report, Pellissier shows growing support for gay marriage by about 1 percent of the electorate per year in most states, including Arizona.... States like...

Should Tiger be included on the Ryder Cup Team? Is he a former PGA phenom? Without question. Did he have an exceptional 2010 season? No, he had a decidedly lackluster 2010 season. Was he the first African-American golfer to achieve superstar status and retain it over several seasons? Aha! I think that could be the key! When we put together an Olympic hockey or soccer team, we don’t select a player who is the first Croatian-American who plays a mediocre hockey or soccer game, and who happens to be grappling with some emotional problems. No, we go for the guys...

O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassion'd stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness. America! America! God mend thine ev'ry flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law. O beautiful for heroes prov'd In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved, And mercy more than life. America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success...

Former McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt tells Sam Stein of the Huffington Post why gay marriage is now a conservative cause: "There is a strong conservative case to be made in favor of gay marriage," former McCain campaign manager and fellow same-sex marriage fundraiser Steve Schmidt told the Huffington Post on Tuesday. "Marriage is an institution that strengthens and stabilizes society. It is an institution that has the capacity to bring profound joy and happiness to people and it is a matter of equality and keeping faith of one of the charters of the nation, the right to live your...

When Bill Clinton moved to open the military to gays in 1993, the GOP and conservative Democrats led the effort to oppose gay rights. In 1996, Hawaii flirted with gay marriage and the GOP again led the charge against gay equality, culminating in the federal response known as the "Defense of Marriage Act". Flash forward fourteen years to the present. Gay marriage is ruled a federal right for the first time and the response from the GOP is… tepid. Not one nationally prominent elected official thought the issue was important enough to get worked up over.... Complicating matters for social...

<p>John Grover, 52, a juror from Joliet, said he grew so frustrated after three days of deliberating on the same charge that he yelled at the woman who refused to join the other 11 in agreeing to convict.</p>
<p>"I gave her a piece of my mind," Grover said. "If it wasn't for that one lady, we'd have had him convicted on probably 80 percent of (the indictment)."</p>

Together with my good friend and occasional courtroom adversary David Boies, I am attempting to persuade a federal court to invalidate California's Proposition 8—the voter-approved measure that overturned California's constitutional right to marry a person of the same sex. My involvement in this case has generated a certain degree of consternation among conservatives. How could a politically active, lifelong Republican, a veteran of the Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush administrations, challenge the "traditional" definition of marriage and press for an "activist" interpretation of the Constitution to create another "new" constitutional right? My answer to this seeming conundrum rests on...

One of the worst presidents in American hostory was elected in 2008. Barak Hussein Obama. Nothing would be sweeter than a rematch in 2012. McCain/Palin would slaughter Obama/Biden in 2012. We would have a bright red map on election day and the dems would be in tears. My mouth waters at the thought of all the furious democrats. They would get to watch just about all of what Hussein did reversed. I'd thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. No more socialist Obamacare and no more socialist agenda. We would go back to the days of individualism and hard work which...

It is hard to imagine that anything has gone unsaid about the so-called Ground Zero mosque, but an important point seems to be missing. The mosque should be built precisely because we don't like the idea very much. We don't need constitutional protections to be agreeable, after all. This point surpasses even all the obvious reasons for allowing the mosque, principally that there's no law against it. Precluding any such law, we let people worship when and where they please. That it hurts some people's feelings is, well, irrelevant in a nation of laws. And, really, don't we want to...

I am sick and tired of this site being taken over by Catholics ( of which I am one ) stories or proverbs. This is a news site not a religion site. Go do that somewhere else. I am not opposed to your prostilazion(sp), just not here. We lose credibility if any religious group dictates or can be quoted from this site. As a long term member of this site I regret posting this information, but the site has been buried in Catholic stuff recently and it should be shunted to some separate page.

Friday August 13, 2010 First Rush, then Coulter, and Now Glenn Beck ... What’s Happening? Commentary by John-Henry Westen NEW YORK, August 12, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Appearing on The O’Reilly Factor yesterday, famed conservative Fox News host Glenn Beck may have shocked many Americans by noting that he was not very concerned about homosexual 'marriage.'O’Reilly asked Beck, “Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way?” Beck replied, “No, I don't,” adding sarcastically, “Will the gays come and get us?” After being pressed again on the question, Beck said, “I believe -- I...

Just a final update for those of you had have kept my 14 y/o cat Moose (recently diagnosed with end stage renal failure just after we returned from a 5 week trip to India 3 weeks ago) in your thoughts and prayers after my vanity request a few weeks ago. Our beloved furbaby Moose peacefully took his last breath Monday night, 8-9-10, cradled gently in my 9 y/o daughter Maya's arms, at 11:15 pm. God lent Moose to us for 14 years, the longest I've ever had a pet, and for all of Maya's life. We were greatly blessed by...
