Fascism Here’s just how Orwellian the American college campus has become. A student government president suspends one of his vice presidents (apparently he has the authority to do that, or he doesn’t but he did it anyway) because of an opinion she expressed. Then, he informs everyone that his action in no way violated her freedom of speech. Next: I consume a chicken and the slaughtered chicken is entirely unaffected by what happened.
  • Julian Assange will to Green Party via Live Feed

Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, the organization that recently posted thousands of the Democratic Party's internal emails online, will speak via live stream at the Green Party national convention, party officials announced Friday. Assange is scheduled to speak at 11:45 a.m. Saturday over a live stream from the Embassy of Ecuador in London. He will speak on the third day of the progressive party's national convention at the University of Houston, before the party nominates its 2016 presidential nominee, widely expected to be Jill Stein. Assange is expected to be interviewed by 2004 Green Party presidential nominee David Cobb,...

Politically correct tyranny is afoot at the University of Houston. I was recently made aware of a student at the university who was suspended for 50 days by the student government association and ordered to attend diversity training over a reference she made about the Black Lives Matter crowd. (She can still go to class but she can't participate in student government activities.) “#ForgetBlackLivesMatter; more like AllLivesMatter,” wrote Rohini Sethi, the vice president of the school’s student government association. Ms. Sethi wrote those words last month just a few hours after five Dallas police officers were assassinated. Her belief that...

The University of Houston's Student Government Vice President has been sanctioned following a social media controversy. Vice President Rohini Sethi's five sanctions include a 50-day suspension beginning Aug. 1, mandatory attendance of the Libra Project diversity workshop, mandatory attendance of three cultural events per month, a reflection letter and a public presentation in the Senate Meeting on Sep. 28. The Student Government President Shane Smith was given a one-time power to determine Sethi's suspension by the Student Senate. It was passed with 13 votes of approval, two against and one abstaining. He released the letter below. Between the Senate Meeting...

A breakthrough in computational medicine is helping one University of Houston professor pave the way to uncover a ticking "time-bomb" in the heart. Ioannis A. Kakadiaris, an associate professor of computer science at UH and director of the Computational Biomedicine Laboratory (CBL), and doctoral student Sean O'Malley are collaborating with Dr. Morteza Naghavi and other leading cardiologists from the Association for Eradication of Heart Attack (AEHA) in this research effort. With cardiovascular disease accounting for twice as many deaths as all cancers in the United States, this group has developed computer technology to alert physicians to heart attack risk. "This...
