    BROWNSVILLE, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents found a live tiger cub inside a duffel bag after they saw three people trying to enter the country illegally, CBS Houston affiliate KHOU-TV reports. Agents said they were working near the Rio Grande Monday when they saw the three try to come into the U.S. One was carrying a small, black duffel bag but left it behind when they returned to Mexico. Inside the bag, agents found the male tiger cub. It appeared to be about three or four months old. The cub was brought to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville.

    Investigators have arrested a father and son accused of sexually assaulting twin 14-year-old girls. Juan Carlos Garcia Jr., 25, of Edcouch is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony. •During a forensic interview, one of the two girls said Garcia Sr. molested her on a weekly basis. Juan Carlos Garcia, 50, of Edcouch is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child, a first-degree felony. Investigators booked Garcia Jr. and Garcia Sr. at the Hidalgo County jail on Thursday. They were released Saturday and couldn't be reached for comment.

    NEAR LA JOYA — A Texas Department of Public Safety sharpshooter opened fire on an evading vehicle loaded with suspected illegal immigrants, leaving at least two people dead. A Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden attempted to pull over a vehicle suspected of smuggling immigrants Thursday afternoon along Farm-to-Market Road 2221. A DPS helicopter was called in to assist in the pursuit and a sharpshooter opened fire on the evading vehicle — a policy permitted by the agency.
