ELKHART _ Two people are confirmed dead in an hit and run accident on Beardsley Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. According to a press release issued late last Saturday by Elkhart Police Department Communications officer Chris Snyder, Ekhart police and fire department were dispatched to the area of East Beardsley Avenue and Cassopolis Street in regards to a motor vehicle crash. Two divers have drowned while inside a deadly cave system described as the 'Mount Everest' for underwater explorers. Patrick Peacock and Chris Rittenmeyer were in the Eagle's Nest diver area in Weeki Wachee, Florida, with a friend, Justin Blakely, on Saturday. They were missing for about three hours before Blakely called police to report the incident. A tire maintenance worker at Metro's Hiram Clarke facility was shot 18 times and killed by a friend and fellow worker after the two feuded for days over a woman, the men's supervisor said. Police on Thursday identified Mario Love, 27, of the 5600 block of East Hampton, as the slain man and said his killer is believed to be a man they found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. NEW YORK (Oct. 11) - A small plane crashed into an Upper East Side high-rise Wednesday, killing two people, raining debris on the sidewalks below and rattling New Yorkers' nerves exactly one month after the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
