During the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning, President Donald Trump took time to request prayers for an old friend: Arnold Schwarzenegger. Trump was introduced at the breakfast by Mark Burnett, producer and creator of “The Apprentice,” the series that first beamed Trump into American homes on a weekly basis. The president called Burnett a “special, special friend” before pivoting to his concerns about the current ratings for “Celebrity Apprentice,” now hosted by Schwarzenegger. “We had tremendous success on ‘The Apprentice,’” Trump said of his history with Burnett. “And when I ran for president, I had to leave the show....

IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data...

  • Make Doctor Who a black woman? Please don't

    02/02/2017 8:31:26 PM PST · by MNDude · 57 replies
Predictable as ever, Doctor’, says the Master in the Doctor Who episode ‘The Deadly Assassin’. In a similar vein, the Guardian has followed the announcement that Peter Capaldi is leaving the series with not one but two articles about how the new Doctor must be a woman, black or preferably both. Because white males are boring! After all, it’s 2017. As the Hitler Youth said to the 19th-century humanists: ‘We don’t think like that anymore.’ Of course, there is nothing wrong with having more women and black people cast in mainstream roles. The more the merrier. But when cultural representation...

The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday took the first step toward the eventual rollout of over-the-air terrestrial 4K television broadcasting in the U.S. The FCC published a proposed regulation that would allow TV stations to begin broadcasts using the ATSC3.0 format, a newer version of the digital transmission format used today. ATSC 3.0 uses an IP data stream, so it's much more flexible than current broadcast standards. Using the system, broadcasts can simultaneously send several video streams of varying bandwidths and additional streams of data. Proponents of the technology say this would enable 4K broadcasting and is a way to...

Former Fox star Megyn Kelly’s move to NBC continues to make waves – this time for one of the peacock network’s most familiar faces. Ten-year veteran of the “Today” show Tamron Hall has announced her departure when her contract expires at the end of this month. Her exit follows last week’s announcement that Kelly would be taking over Hall’s third-hour slot that she has co-hosted with Al Roker. In a statement Wednesday, Hall said, “The last ten years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful. I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my...

Tuesday on the View, host Whoopi Goldberg led a segment based off of the ridiculous question, "Is America becoming like the Taliban?" Whoopi referenced Monday’s show, where co-host Jedediah Bila talked about terrorists hating American values like freedom and democracy. Tuesday, Whoopi wondered if it was actually America who hated freedom and was trading it in for "Taliban values" with Trump in the White House. WHOOPI: We keep hearing about terrorists hating about American values. We had this conversation yesterday. Let me ask you now, we have had a leader who's repeatedly demeaned women, wants to defund organizations that benefit...

Malia Obama already has one hell of an entry level job as the Weinstein Company's newest intern -- she's picking and choosing scripts to pitch to execs ... TMZ has learned. Our Weinstein sources tell us Malia started work Monday and she's ensconced in the production/development department ... reading through scripts and deciding which ones move on to Weinstein brass. We're told Malia's internship will run through the Spring. Weinstein gets lots of scripts from top screenwriters and unknowns alike, with good reason -- the company produced some of Hollywood's most decorated films over in the last decade ... like...
