Is it me or is this dude creepy looking? I just saw that liquor commercial (can't remember the details of the comm) and they show him at the end of the ad where he laughs and his face doesn't move. I remember him in a movie (the title escapes me right now)with Kurt Russell in which he was a psycho cop preying on Russell's wife and he was creepy then. Is this guy on some kind of facial drug?

Break out the brie and berets, because it's an art house film double feature tonight. Kia (Allyson Ames) is a beautiful but wicked spirit that lures weak men into sin and temptation, in order to doom their souls. Bored with the ease with which most mortals fall prey to her wiles, Kia longs for a challenge. She finds it in Marc (William Shatner), a wounded soldier whose virtue and faith are unshakeable. Kia plots his demise, but may find the power of a pure heart is more than even she expects... In Esperanto with English subtitles.

Tonight, a good British WW2 film that's actually two stories in one. Binns (John Mills) is a Tommy with no desire for command who is forced by circumstance to lead a group of men to the beaches of Dunkirk to await rescue. Meanwhile, a shopkeeper and boat owner named Holden (Sir Richard Attenborough) must search his heart and gut when suddenly finds himself challenged to do more for the war effort than just pay his taxes...

And why hasn't anyone mentioned the possibility of Charlie Crist running for the Democrat Nomination? Just look at who else is on the waiting list, Warren, DeBlasio, Sanders and O'Malley. They are all just as qualified to be President as Charlie Crisp, right? So why wont he jump in while Hillary is sinking into quicksand? He has no chance of being "Senator Charlie Crisp", well not in Florida.

Dartmouth College has rejected an appeal by a fraternity accused of branding new members, ending efforts by the Greek organization that partly inspired the 1976 movie 'Animal House' to remain recognized on campus. Alpha Delta appealed last month after a campus judiciary committee at the Ivy League school withdrew the fraternity's recognition as a student organization. That appeal has been denied and the decision to withdraw recognition stands, according to a statement the college provided to The Associated Press on Friday.

NEW YORK – Hidden in the attention being paid to David Letterman leading to his May 20 retirement is the knowledge that it will also mean the end of a regular television role for America's bandleader, Paul Shaffer. The gravel-voiced sidekick, who's 65, isn't ready to leave show business even with the gig of a lifetime coming to a close after 33 years. "Of course, I had the old mixed feelings, sadness, etcetera," Shaffer said during an interview in his office behind the Ed Sullivan Theater. "Now I have come around to just being absolutely thankful for such a wonderful...

The mysterious lights spotted last week south of San Diego are a mystery no more. And the source isn't a flying saucer that's going to whisk you away. An NBC 7 news photographer believes the strange blinking lights he captured in a video last week were coming from TV news antennas in Mexico, about 15 miles from the U.S. border. Reports of the mysterious lights generated attention on a number of national and international news sites, such as Buzzfeed and The Huffington Post. I was reading the story of Abraham to my child and talking about, like, not worshipping false idols. And this is literally like gold men. This is literally worshipping gold idols — if you worship it. That's why it's not displayed on the wall. It's a false idol." .... Portman grants she's "quite leftist" (particularly in relation to Israeli society), but in Paris, she says, "You really feel like a capitalist, [and you feel the] socialist difference in a major way. Like, the strike thing is a real phenomenon. You think it's just a stereotype, but it's totally the case...

An N.F.L. investigation has found that “it is more probable than not” that New England Patriots personnel intentionally deflated footballs to gain an advantage in the A.F.C. championship game last season, and that Tom Brady, the Super Bowl most valuable player, was probably aware of it. No penalties have been announced. The long-awaited report into so-called deflategate, released on Wednesday, concluded that it was probable that Patriots personnel were “involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules.” The report said that Jim McNally, a locker room attendant, and John Jastremski, an equipment assistant, released air from the footballs. It...

The Emmy-winning team behind Syfy's Taken is reuniting for another science fiction classic. Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television is adapting Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World as a scripted series for the NBCUniversal-owned cable network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Brave New World — ranked fifth among the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th Century by Modern Library — is set in a world without poverty, war or disease. Humans are given mind-altering drugs, free sex and rampant consumerism are the order of the day, and people no longer reproduce but are genetically engineered in "hatcheries." Those who won’t conform...

This week’s question is from contributor Jesse Hassenger: I went to a couple of shows on Sleater-Kinney’s recent tour, and they played their kick-ass song “Entertain.” When the song came out in 2005, Carrie Brownstein described it as a screed against the empty nostalgia of then-contemporary rock music. As much as I enjoy hearing Brownstein calling out a bunch of flash-in-the-pan buzz bands (and as much as I agree that just because something is catchy doesn’t mean that it’s good), in my heart of hearts I don’t particularly agree with the song’s lament that fun rock music is “just a...

When Orson Welles was born 100 years ago on May 6, 1915, there were no radios or television, and movies still hadn’t learned to talk. From age 26 until his death in 1985, Welles established himself as an innovative but turbulent filmmaker. He narrowly missed the high-tech media revolution that might have saved his troubled film-directing career. Yet in a surprising number of ways, Welles himself set the stage for that revolution—and technology has repaid the compliment by restoring many of his films, allowing them to be seen and appreciated by more people than ever saw them in theaters during...

A couple of years back, I had the pleasure of conducting a sit-down interview with filmmaker Joss Whedon for Newsweek magazine. The occasion was his post-Avengers passion project, Much Ado About Nothing—an impeccably staged and delightfully droll riff on the Shakespeare classic filmed with a cast of pals over 12 days at Whedon’s Santa Monica home. The experience was, according to Whedon, a spiritual cleansing of sorts; a respite from the drudgery of assembling a gazillion-dollar superhero epic that reminded him why he fell in love with visual storytelling in the first place. And, like many film and television projects...
