Federal prosecutors today kicked off the long-awaited trial of accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with a devastating chronology of his alleged actions on the day of the bombings that killed three and wounded 260 — as defense attorneys freely admitted “it was him.” “He decided to place his bomb right behind a row of children... one of them was Martin Richard,” federal prosecutor William Weinreb said during opening statements at the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse in Boston. “When he was a safe distance away, he detonated his bomb ... Some bled to death on the sidewalk as...

The trial for the Boston Marathon bombing might become a family affair. Katherine Russell, the widow of slain suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, could face criminal charges for the April 2013 terror attack, ABC News reported. Police reportedly believe that Russell knew about the havoc Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokar, planned for the marathon, and failed to let authorities know about it. Dzhokar Tsarnaev is currently on trial for the attack.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The focus of the Boston Marathon bombing trial figures to be as much on what punishment Dzhokhar Tsarnaev could face as on his responsibility for the attack. With testimony expected to start later this month, the Justice Department has given no indication it is open to any proposal from the defense to spare Tsarnaev's life, pushing instead toward a trial that could result in a death sentence for the 21-year-old defendant. In a deadly terror case that killed three people, including a child, and jolted the city, there may be little incentive for prosecutors who believe they...

Lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev asked a judge Tuesday to suspend jury selection in his trial for at least a month because the recent terrorist attacks in France have again placed the marathon bombings “at the center of a grim global drama.” The lawyers said a delay would allow some time “for the extraordinary prejudice flowing from these events—and the comparison of those events to those at issue in this case—to diminish.” …

Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is asking a federal judge to clamp down on “self-appointed supporters” protesting on his behalf outside a Boston courthouse, arguing that their “inflammatory accusations” could hurt his right to a fair trial. In a court filing Monday, Tsarnaev’s defense team sought to distance themselves from the demonstrators, arguing they could have a “deleterious and prejudicial impact” on his trial, which is set to begin Jan. 5. The supporters, his attorneys wrote, “advocate various conspiracy theories concerning the marathon bombing, including that the resulting deaths and injuries have somehow been faked as part of a...

Robel Phillipos, a friend of terror suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, has been convicted of lying to authorities investigating last year’s Boston Marathon bombings that killed three spectators, including an 8-year-old Dorchester boy. Phillipos was accused of lying about being in Tsarnaev’s dorm room three days after the bombing, when two other friends removed a backpack containing fireworks and other potential evidence, including a laptop. Phillipos' lawyers argued he couldn’t clearly remember what happened because he had smoked marijuana heavily that day. The fate of Phillipos, 19 when he was arrested and who turned 21 this month during his trial at U.S....

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s attorneys, who appear to be crafting a defense based around casting the older brother as a bullying mastermind of the Boston operation, renewed their push for evidence on Friday arguing the government had previously said the case was “might be relevant if Dzhokhar were aware of it.” They then pointed to a letter they received from prosecutors on Aug. 15, 2014, saying the government had a witness prepared to testify that “Dzhokhar had such an awareness.” The developments come just days before both sides are scheduled to release their initial list of witnesses in the bombings trial, which...

It was an altercation that likely would have been buried in the reams of other ugly domestic disputes in New York. Except the accused was Ailina Tsarnaeva, the 24-year-old sister of alleged Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. And, according to police, she allegedly threatened the other woman by telling her, “I have people. I know people that can put a bomb where you live.”

Ailina Tsarnaev, 24, sister of Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was charged with aggravated harassment after a bomb threat was made by phone to another woman on Monday. The recipient -- whose name was not released -- notified police of the threat, according to NYPD Lt. John Grimpel. Ailina Tsarnaev, a resident of North Bergen, New Jersey, turned herself in to authorities on Wednesday.

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that "betrayal of the United States" may not be among the factors prosecutors cite when arguing that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should get the death penalty if he is convicted at trial. U.S. District Court Judge George O'Toole said it was "highly inappropriate" for prosecutors to draw a distinction between a "naturalized" and "natural-born" U.S. citizen.

The Politically Correct narrative of the Boston Marathon bombing is sinking faster than Barack Obama’s poll numbers. Remember Tamerlan Tsarnaev, aka Speedbump. The Boston Globe tearfully informed its moonbat readers that Speedbump was “a stay-at-home dad.” When he died at the age of 25, Speedbump was a “person of interest” in seven murders in Massachusetts, so apparently the stay-at-home dad got out of his (Section 8) house every once in a while. Now we find out that his 9 mm came from a “Maine gang,” two words I never thought I’d type in the same sentence. But then, Vacationland has...

Lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say FBI agents violated their client’s rights by questioning him after he asked for a lawyer 10 times from his hospital bed. The L.A. Times reports the 20-year-old suspect was in pain, according to defense attorneys who also said authorities had determined there was no lingering threat to public safety went they interrogated him in April 2013.

There is a young person held captive in Massachusetts today who is not allowed to participate in religious ceremonies, or visit family without government agents watching. No, it’s not accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. It’s 15-year-old mitochondrial disease patient and nonterrorist Justina Pelletier. U.S. District Court Judge George O’Toole Jr. ruled Wednesday that the now-20-year-old charged with four deaths and injuring more than 260 people should be able to see his sisters without an FBI agent present. The feds can appeal, but he says their case would have to be “pretty convincing.” “Can you believe it?” That was Jennifer...

New York (AFP) - Russia declined to provide the FBI with information about one of the Boston marathon bombing suspects two years before the attack, The New York Times reported. Three people were killed and about 260 wounded on April 15 last year when two bombs made of explosives-packed pressure cookers went off near the finish line of the marathon. US authorities are seeking the death penalty for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, then 19, for his alleged role in the blasts. His brother Tamerlan, 26, died after an exchange of fire with police after the Chechen Muslim brothers went on the run,...
