"While the scope of the potential investment has not been determined, we will announce the details of any plans following the completion of direct discussions between our leadership and the relevant U.S. officials," Foxconn explained in a statement to Bloomberg. "Those plans would be made based on mutually-agreed terms." Although Foxconn didn't provide specifics, a document held up by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son after meeting with U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump allegedly...

The resignation of Italy’s prime minister Monday marked the abrupt downfall of the third key European partner of President Obama this year, as the president becomes increasingly powerless to confront a populist wave sweeping both sides of the Atlantic and challenging traditional U.S. alliances.Matteo Renzi’s surrender in Italy came just seven weeks after Mr. Obama toasted the 41-year-old prime minister at a gilded State Dinner at the White House for possessing “the vision and the values that can carry Italy, and Europe, forward.†Mr. Renzi submitted his resignation after Italian voters resoundingly rejected his proposals for political reform in...

In the Wisconsin Day 3 Recount Update 18,422 votes for Hillary Clinton were erased resulting in a 15,133 vote net increase for Donald Trump. Trump won Wisconsin by over 22,000 votes in Wisconsin but thanks to Jill Stein a recount is currently underway. So far the recount has made little news because, as Heavy reported at the end of day 2 of the recount, the net vote in Wisconsin had only changed by 3 votes. However, the Wisconsin Board of Elections just posted updated recount results for Day 3 on their recount update page and today’s net changes are much...

U.S. stock futures indicated the Dow industrials were ready to open at a fresh intraday all-time high on Monday, with momentum driven as equity investors shook off the defeat of Italy’s constitution-reform referendum on Sunday and amid signs of steady U.S. economic growth. “The combination of steady U.S. economic growth, which won’t need too hawkish a stance from the FOMC to manage, along with the prospect of further QE from the ECB seems to be generating perfect conditions to extend the bull market rally,” said Jamieson Blake, retail sales manager at ADS Securities London, in a note to clients. President-elect Donald Trump slammed China on Sunday, criticizing the country on Twitter for taxing U.S. products and for its aggression in the South China Sea. “Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency (making it hard for our companies to compete), heavily tax our products going into…their country (the U.S. doesn't tax them) or to build a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea? I don't think so!”

THE EUROPEAN UNION looks set to be shattered by a potential influx of Eurosceptic country leaders who refuse to toe the line of the Brussels elite This weekend Austria could be set to elect its first far-right leader while Italy could simultaneously lose its Europhile Prime Minister. The beleaguered EU boss Jean-Claude Juncker is watching his superstate...

In the wake of Carrier announcing they were moving jobs from Indiana to Mexico, President Obama told one of the company's employees during a June town hall meeting there was nothing that could be done about the trend of jobs leaving America. “What can we look forward to in the future as far as jobs, employment, whatever? Because all of our jobs have left or [are] in the process of leaving, sir,” Eric Cottonham asked the president.
