The Trump campaign rally in Minneapolis on Thursday marks the beginning of the presidential re-election campaign’s intense efforts to win the state of Minnesota in 2020. “It is a full-on major effort state campaign,” Trump campaign spokesperson Tim Murtaugh told the New York Times in a story published early Thursday morning. President Trump narrowly lost the state’s ten electoral college votes by about 44,000 votes in 2016, the best Republican showing in Minnesota since President Richard Nixon won the state in the 1972 presidential election. The Times reported in its Thursday story: Brad Parscale, the president’s campaign manager, is planning...

No Republican presidential candidate has won Minnesota since Richard Nixon in 1972. But Donald Trump came close in 2016, losing to Hillary Clinton by 44,765 votes, a margin of just over 1.5 percent percentage points. Here are three scenarios — note Minnesota political observers — where Trump can win. WEAK DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE Many Democratic strategists now agree that the biggest problem with Hillary Clinton’s candidacy was Hillary Clinton. For whatever reason, voters simply didn’t turn out for her. Trump’s 1.32 million votes was almost identical to what 2012 GOP candidate Mitt Romney got. But Clinton’s 1.37 million votes was a...

Minneapolis is bracing for a chaotic scene, with President Donald Trump set to speak Thursday in the heart of the city that overwhelmingly rejected him in 2016. Two dozen disparate groups plan to protest the visit, from civil rights advocates to labor unions and self-identifying antifa or anti-capitalists. Some estimate more than 10,000 people will flood downtown to oppose the president’s visit. They will be confronted by counterdemonstrators supporting the president, some of whom follow him across the country such as Bikers for Trump, along with the Minnesota-based Three Percenters militia. That’s in addition to the Trump fans who plan...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Supporters of President Donald Trump began lining up in downtown Minneapolis Thursday morning, hours ahead of the evening rally at Target Center. Groups of supporters, some of which had arrived downtown Wednesday night, could be seen near the arena, some lined up in the Skyway and others in the street, waving Trump flags in the morning rain. ---snip--- On Thursday morning, no protesters were seen gathered downtown. However, a giant balloon depicting Trump as a baby was seen on top of First Avenue, the iconic Minneapolis club across the street from Target Center.

We’ve known it all along. Like their colleagues in Washington, D.C., and around the country, Minnesota Democrats are unable to cope with the 2016 election results. While Reps. Angie Craig, Dean Phillips and Collin Peterson have continued to take their cues from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, local Twin Cities Democrats have also fallen in line, mimicking the rhetoric of their national counterparts to stay in line with their party’s messaging against the president. As Democrats like Mayor Jacob Frey continue to obstruct and ignore the wishes of Minnesotans by announcing that President Donald Trump is not welcome in the city, and...

Article's full title: "Minneapolis' liberal mayor trying to 'bully' President Trump out of Minnesota, says head of police union" Excerpt: The mayor of Minneapolis, a Democrat, is trying to "antagonize" and "bully" President Trump to discourage him from coming to the historically blue state, a police union leader said Tuesday. Kroll's claims are in line with Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale, who accused Frey of "abuse of power" over a proposed $530,000 security fee to use the arena.

Your position is clearly wrong under the plain wording of the contract. Neither the Campaign nor AEG is responsible for arranging or paying for rally-related security. Rather, the U.S. Secret Service – and the U.S. Secret Service alone – is “solely and directly” responsible for coordinating law enforcement services in connection with the rally. “As such, no law enforcement costs shall be coordinated by [AEG], charged through [AEG] to [the Campaign], or shall otherwise be reimbursable expenses in connection with the [contract].” The Campaign cannot be in breach of an obligation it does not owe to AEG. Yet AEG’s failure...

The Minneapolis police union has come out with a "Cops for Trump" T-shirt, just days after the Police Department banned officers from wearing their uniforms in support of candidates at political events or in ads. Lt. Bob Kroll, head of the officers' union, posted the T-shirt image on his personal Facebook page, saying the shirts will be for sale starting Monday at the union's headquarters for $20 each and will soon be available online. The shirt has stars and stripes in the shape of Minnesota along with three different law enforcement badges.

President Donald Trump is planning to host a rally in Minneapolis next week, but local officials are already opposed to the decision. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said Trump was not welcome. “Our entire city will stand not behind the president, but behind the communities and people who continue to make our city — and this country — great,” Frey said in a statement. The rally is scheduled for October 10 at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Despite his opposition, Frey admitted he could not block Trump from hosting the rally for his local supporters. “While there is no legal mechanism...
