Arnold Schwarzenegger, who once famously warned Republicans that they were “dying at the box office,” has decided not to support either of the leading GOP candidates for California governor, a spokesman said on Friday. The former governor’s decision to speak out against the candidacies of John Cox, a Rancho Sante Fe businessman, and Travis Allen, an Orange County legislator, stands in sharp contrast to his past refusals to weigh in on those who have followed him into office. “They will not get his vote,” said spokesman Daniel Ketchell. Schwarzenegger’s decision was based on the candidates' past statements about climate change,...

Republican candidate for California governor Travis Allen asked a brutal personal question during a debate of the frontrunner, Democratic Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, about an affair the California Democrat had in 2005. "The question is very simple ladies and gentlemen: if you can't trust Gavin with his best friend's wife, how can you trust him with your state?" Allen asked. Allen was referring to an affair Newsom had with Ruby Rippey Gibney, who was Newsom's commission appointments secretary. Rippey Gibney was married to Newsom's campaign manager and friend Alex Tourk. Newsom responded to the question by bringing up President Donald...

Two Republicans, businessman John Cox and Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach), have now passed former Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in the race for California governor, according to a new poll. Cox has 18 percent of likely voters and Allen has 16 percent, according to the University of California Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) Poll, as reported by the Fresno Bee. Villaraigosa is a distant fourth, at just 9 percent. All trail Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, who is at 30 percent. But Villaraigosa’s fall is stunning. He had 17 percent of likely voters in December, according to the poll. But...

On Thursday, Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) officially became the sixth candidate — and second Republican — to announce his candidacy for California’s 2018 Democrat-heavy gubernatorial race. Allen accompanied his surprise announcement with an a video ad titled, “Take Back California“: “I’ve seen our taxes increased to be among the highest in the nation, I’ve seen crime increase in every major metropolitan area, and I’ve seen an expansion of the government bureaucracy at the expense of hard-working Californians and their businesses,” Allen saays in the ad. “I am running for Governor to make California once again the greatest state in...

On Monday, California State Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) introduced two pieces of legislation to counter the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against the State of Israel. Allen’s Assembly Bills 1551 and 1552 aim to ensure that the Golden State does not contract with businesses that engage in boycotts based on race, color, religion, gender, and/or nationality. “I think the message is clear [and] that there’s real pushback against this fringe movement by a handful of extremists that are trying to demonize and discriminate against Israel,” Allen told Breitbart News on Wednesday.
