According to the Washington State Marijuana Impact Report, the incidents of marijuana-impaired driving are increasing dramatically. Fatal driving accidents have risen 122 percent between 2010 and 2014, according to the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission. Marijuana is big business in Washington state. There are more marijuana businesses than Starbucks in Washington state (despite the fact that Starbucks was founded in Seattle). The traffic safety organization AAA has its own reports on marijuana use among drivers in fatal crashes, and the picture is equally bleak.

The 10 deadliest interstates in America, mapped Updated by Sarah Frostenson on November 6, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. ET Car accidents killed 32,719 people in 2013, about 90 people each day. I pulled the 2,867 fatal accidents on major American interstates in 2013 into the...

Every year in the United States nearly a half million children are tragically killed. The top two causes of these deaths are: 1) Car Accidents 2) Drowning Yes, the pro-car lobby will wail and gnash their teeth, and the NCA will have a hissy fit. But how long can a civilized, democratic society allow our children (and adults) to be maimed and killed by these cars and fluids? Every year, 260,000 children are killed and 1,000,000 injured in car accidents. A significant number of these deaths and injuries are perpetrated by semi-automatic assault cars. Every year, 175,000 children are killed...

The Obama administration’s proposed mileage standards that will be announced today may kill more Americans at a faster rate than the Iraq War, his signature issue in the 2008 presidential campaign. Obama’s standards will require automakers to meet a 35 miles-per-gallon standard by 2016, four years earlier than the same standard imposed by the Energy Security and Independence Act of 2007. The only way for carmakers to meet these standard is to make smaller, lighter -- and deadlier cars. The National Academy of Sciences has linked mileage standards with about 2,000 deaths per year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration...
