Washington - The makeover of the Oval Office has been widely panned in press reports and on the blogosphere for being too casual and for its bland color palate but White House press secretary Robert Gibbs doesn't expect President Obama to weigh in anytime soon. (Snip) In an apparent effort to head off criticism, the White House pointed out that all of the materials and furniture came from U.S.-based companies, and that taxpayers won't foot the bill. These kinds of projects have always been funded by the White House Historical Association, with money from the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

A mysterious someone from your past comes to re-decorate your bedroom. You go away for a small vacation and come back to find your spouse/lover/child/someone has revamped your entire living room. The male wants tile, the female wants carpet. There’s a slew of angles to the home decorating shows that are all the rage now, and Grandmother has documented, amusingly she hopes, quite a few of them. 9/29/2004 Those Home Decorating Shows===================================================== Grandmother does like to watch all the current home decorating shows, Kaitlyn Mae, and shall now list a few of the most notable and provide her opinion, no...
  • SICK OF THEME TV ON FORMERLY GOOD CHANNELS? A GRIPE THREAD

OK - here is my peeve. TNT used to be kinda fun. There was a mix of action movies, some drama. Now, it is infested with Law and Order nearly nonstop. Now, USA is picking up Law and Order SVU, and it appears to be nonstop, displacing its formerly decent format.Discovery has gone to nearly all forensic crime, and TLC has become Trading Spaces 24/7.As a result, I've actually resorted to more PBS.Does anyone else hate this theme thing, or am I alone?

The instant she opened her eyes -- after two grueling days and nights of giving her neighbors' kitchen a facelift -- Ruth Nelson was stunned by her own tarted-up Alexandria living and dining rooms. "I love it," she blurted as TV cameras recorded the moment. Trouble was, she didn't. A wall, once eggshell, was painted four-alarm scarlet. Two print sofas were obscured under hastily made off-white slipcovers with exposed seams stitched in black and red. A poster-size photo of her teenage son, Chris, showed only his chin; another just part of the family cat. Also baffling were 24 fluttering gold...
  • (vanity) Did anyone catch the "Trading Spaces Live Reveal" tonight on TLC?

Did anyone happen to catch the "Trading Spaces live reveal" from Las Vegas tonight? Mrs. Fierro & I watched a later re-airing of the show, but the actual reveal portion appeared to be botched. All they showed were miscued video clips and staff members acting as if they were the homeowners. We tried checking it out on the TLC website, but without success. Were the homeowners' reactions so negative/profane that the show just couldn't air them?
