NEW YORK – Police say Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Chris Simms told them he'd been smoking marijuana before he was stopped while driving Thursday — but he says he was just talking about cigarettes. Simms, a son of former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms, called the case against him "very weak" as he left a Manhattan courthouse after his arraignment on charges of driving while impaired by drugs. "I think it speaks for itself," Simms, 29, said as he walked to a waiting car, with his pregnant wife on his arm. Released without bail, he's due back in court...

Bringing his message right to their doorstep, President Obama yesterday told Wall Street bankers in no uncertain terms to support sweeping regulatory reform, saying the industry has nothing to fear "unless your business model depends on bilking people." More than three dozen of the city's leading industry executives gathered in an audience of 700 at Cooper Union and listened grimly as the president denounced their "battalions of lobbyists," suggested millions of Americans had been "duped" by deceptive mortgages, and ripped enormous bonuses as offensive to America's "traditional values."

“Release the Kraken!” If those three words don’t stir up all kinds of nostalgia for the summer of ’82 when HBO aired the original “Clash of the Titans” 9 times a day (in ’83 it was “Beastmaster,” in ’84, “Eddie and the Cruisers”), you probably shouldn’t plunk down the price of admission. What we bring to the movies plays a big role in what we get from the movies (which is why critics are absolutely useless). And if cheese and nostalgia don’t play an important role in this particular film-going choice you might find yourself a little disappointed.

The sound of the air being knocked out of the guts of over 71,000 people all at once is devastating. It’s the sound that ended the Monday Night Football battle between the Titans and Texans as Kris Brown missed his second field goal of the night.

Young’s confidence is now at an all time high. Plus, he’ll be even more motivated by the fact that home in Houston was where he was hoping to stay after being bypassed by the Texans’ brass during the 2006 draft. Young then took out his revenge in tantalizing form, as he raced through the middle of the field to lead his Titans to an overtime victory during his Reliant Stadium debut .To further heighten the humiliation that game, there was a deafening roar of the crowd cascading though Reliant Stadium as though it were a Texans’ player who had scored...

oft and uninspired, were a couple of the terms used to describe the play of the Texans after the loss to the Jets last week during the season opener. Some fans were even calling for a coaching change after the debacle, hoping the Texans brass would keep the telephone numbers of Bill Cower and Tony Dungy on speed dial. Things can really change fast in one week. Despite being down by 14 points in the second quarter and unable to establish any sort of running game, the Houston Texans earned perhaps its most monumental win in team history with a...

Police said she also suspected McNair was seeing another woman. Police earlier had labeled McNair's death a homicide, but awaited further tests and investigation before saying for sure what happened. At one point, Kazemi told an associate that her...

With the help of computer-generated graphics, Channel 4 showed on Tuesday a first-hand glimpse at what the inside of the apartment looks like. Dorsey accessed the apartment through the same front door that police said Wayne Neely entered on Saturday afternoon and found McNair and Sahel Kazemi shot...

GAME 1: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants. The Eagles cheerleaders are a plucky bunch with big plans. They have their own 2009 calendar, and each cheerleader has her own introductory video on their website. We like their multimedia approach. GAME 1: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants. Tennessee defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was ejected early in the third quarter Sunday after he kicked Dallas center Andre Gurode in the face. Now the tackle expects to be punished and knows he deserves it."What I did out there was disgusting," Haynesworth said. "It doesn't matter what the league does to me. The way I feel right now, you just can't describe it."Julius Jones had just scored on a 5-yard run, putting Dallas up 20-6 in what wound up as a 45-14 victory.
