At least five off-duty New York Police Department officers have admitted being present at the savage revenge beating last weekend on the Henry Hudson Parkway, according to reports. Among the off duty cops were at least two detectives and three other officers, all who witnessed the attack and did little to stop it. One of the detectives, an undercover narcotics officer, watched as the violence broke out and chose not to break it up for fear of ruining his cover. The five officers were not the only ones present, WABC is reporting that the NYPD is investigating whether several off-duty...

WASHINGTON - More than 100 members of various labor unions, many of them furloughed federal workers, gathered outside the east end of the Capitol building Friday afternoon to protest the government shutdown. Their message to Congress echoed in harmony through their continuous chant: "We want to work, we want to work." "Let our people get back to work, and stop holding us as hostages," says Janet Coyle, who represented the American Federation of Government Employees. Alexis Vasquez, 18, attended the rally because he wants to see justice for federal workers. "I want them to take us into consideration, and to...

First, members of SEIU-United Service Workers West activists will make signs and banners from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday as part of their national day of action for immigration reform. Then, they will meet with their fresh news signs at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 71 Fortune Drive, Irvine, march to the office of Congressman John Campbell at 20 Pacifica and rally for reform. Organizing for Action (OFA-CA) has also been holding rallies throughout Orange County, particularly...

There is a sea change occurring in America fifty years after MLK Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. This paradigm shift is spreading with the growing realization among our citizens that Black America (including our president) seems to hate Non-Black America. Temper this sweeping statement with the fact that blacks in America may genuinely like non-black individuals, just as whites in 1850 who believed blacks were a lower form of life still knew individual black men they respected for their particular talents and/or character. However, if we take specific individual knowledge out of the equation, on the whole, being black...

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — A defense attorney for a man accused of fatally shooting a baby in a stroller said the investigation was flawed and police ignored other leads and suspects, while the prosecution said witnesses may have had shifting stories but video and other evidence doesn't lie. The closing arguments Friday in the trial of De'Marquise Elkins gave dramatically different portrayals of the investigation and presented opposing theories of what happened. Elkins, 18, is charged with murder and other crimes in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick, along Georgia's coast. He's also accused of shooting...

The boys looked terribly young and more stunned than scared when they were led individually into a packed courtroom in rural Oklahoma to face charges over the murder of Christopher Lane, an Australian they had never met. The prosecutor, Jason Hicks, repeated the terrible details already shared by police - that Mr Lane, who was visiting his girlfriend, Sarah Harper had jogged past the boys as they sat around outside a house on Friday afternoon; that they selected him as a target, followed him in a car and shot him about four minutes later. For people trying to understand what...

The victim came away from the July 9 beating with two black eyes and a fractured hand, according to WFLA.
