The head of the Omaha police unit in charge of bomb detonation has retired after fecal matter was found at the Omaha Public Safety Training Center. Omaha Police Sgt. Matthew Manhart, who oversaw the department’s bomb response unit, had been accused of depositing his own fecal matter where a manager at the training center would find it, according to three sources with knowledge of Manhart’s departure. Reports varied on exactly where it was left, but it was in the open and not in a toilet, the sources said. Manhart reportedly had continuing concerns over storage and care of the bomb...

KERRY APOLOGIZES FOR "DIAPERS" REMARK (01/18/04) U.S. Sen. John Kerry called U.S. Sen. While campaigning in Iowa Sunday, Kerry was asked how he differed from Edwards. Kerry touted his foreign policy experience and said that when he returned home after serving in Vietnam in 1969, "I don't even know if John Edwards was out of diapers." Edwards responded Sunday evening before a stop in Mason City that drew an overflow crowd. "I honor his service in...

Well, I guess the headline should have your blood boiling. In an exclusive FR interview with a pilot for a major airline, I was told a story that had my blood boiling. It happened at a major airport two weeks ago. A man wearing a turban refused to remove the turban so that it could be inspected for security purposes. Those in charge of security let him board the plane anyway. My pilot contact was near him in line and watched it happen. The veteran pilot who has passed stringent security and background checks, was forced to remove his hat...
