In a brief interview yesterday with jeff4justice of the No More 2 Party System YouTube channel, the increasingly libertarian political commentator and media impresario Glenn Beck was asked whether he was going to vote for Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson. Beck, who had previously gushed about L.P. presidential candidate and eventual runner-up Austin Petersen, replied: "I'm probably going to vote for Gary Johnson," though "I haven't made my final decision yet."
  • Green candidate: Sanders should leave party that 'betrayed' him (Jill Stein)

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein once again welcomed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) into her party, suggesting in a series of tweets that he could leave the party that “betrayed” him. “If @BernieSanders repudiates the Democratic Party that betrayed him, I'd welcome him into @GreenPartyUS to continue the revolution,” Stein posted on Twitter on Saturday afternoon. Stein’s comments come in the wake of a massive leak of emails from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) this weekend that revealed party officials' plans to undermine Sanders's presidential campaign. In one such email, the DNC press secretary discussed planting a narrative to the...

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson went all-out Hollywood on Saturday night with a fundraiser at Drew Carey’s house. Even the invitation for the Drew Carey-hosted fundraiser for Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson was a bit unconventional. The dress code was listed as “Libertarian Comfortable, i.e., whatever you’re comfy in,” and there were plenty of jeans and sneakers on display. While the host did offer complimentary valet parking, he suggested that “Uber-ing” might be easier. Guests began to assemble around 5 p.m. Saturday evening, the sky prematurely darkening not with the threat of rain but from nearby wildfires that created...

Just hours before Donald Trump was set to give his acceptance speech for the Republican presidential nomination in Cleveland, one of his third-party challengers rallied supporters in Stamford Thursday night. About 150 people turned out to see Green Party presumptive presidential nominee Jill Stein at the Stamford Innovation Center. Nearly all in attendance were former supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. In a 45-minute speech reminiscent of the long, fiery, policy-heavy speeches delivered by Sanders during his campaign, Stein called on his former supporters to join her in continuing the political revolution he started.

Military troops favor Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson for president over Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, according to a new survey. Johnson garnered 38.7 percent of the active duty vote, versus 30.9 for Trump, and 14.1 for Clinton, according to the survey, which was conducted via the popular military personality Doctrine Man. Although the survey was not a scientific poll with a margin of error, it provides a snapshot of the preferences of about 3,500 active duty, reservists, retired and former members of the military and their family members, 95.7 percent of which were registered voters. Among all services except for...

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson hinted Wednesday that former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush might be considering an endorsement. "I can't say that we haven't had conversations," Johnson said in a Wednesday afternoon conversation on CNN from Cleveland. "But no push on the conversations." Johnson said he has also had conversations with 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney. When asked who initiated the conversations, Johnson replied, "Not me." When asked if the former Florida governor has called him, Johnson added quickly, "I don't want to — I want to protect the innocent.

Ivanka Trump, the daughter of presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump, is the apparent winner of a write-in vote for the Reform Party nomination for the 12th congressional district. According to the city Board of Elections, Trump received two out of the five write-in votes cast among eligible voters. Trump’s win was brought to my attention by Frank Morano, a radio host and civic activist who has sought to bring attention to New York’s at-times absurd campaign laws.

Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol made yet another plea Sunday for Mitt Romney or Sen. Ben Sasse to launch a third-party bid to challenge presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. "Look what's happening to our country. Look at the two party nominees. An independent candidacy is still doable. Please. @MittRomney @BenSasse," Kristole tweeted on Sunday. Kristol has spearheaded the charge for an independent candidate to enter the race and has worked with conservatives seeking to deny Trump the nomination at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland next week. Kristol earlier this month encouraged Republican delegates to protest on the floor...

In his op-ed, West echoed what he told Salon in an interview in May. “Just to tell the truth, Trump is a narcissistic neo-fascist in the making, and you just have to say that. That’s what it is,” he said, blasting the corporate media for fueling the rise of the GOP front-runner and describing him as the out-of-control Frankenstein’s monster who is “coming back to haunt you.” “Hillary Clinton is a milquetoast neoliberal” who is pushing for “hawkish policies around the world; you just have to say that,” West added. He excoriated the capitalist system and the “big money” that...

The Republicans have their elephant and the Democrats are represented by a donkey, burro or ass. By the way, in Cleveland, the logo for the RNC looks rather like an elephant about to deal harshly with an armadillo (I think it's half a guitar, presumably a nod to Cleveland's role as host of the Rock n'Roll Hall of Fame.) But I was wondering, what animal best represents the Libertarian Party? Do they already have one? A soaring eagle? A large bull? How about an ostrich? But an ostrich with a stash buried underground.

“Today, I endorsed Hillary Clinton to be our next president,” Bernie Sanders announced to supporters on July 12, shortly after formally endorsing Clinton at a campaign rally in New Hampshire. “I know that some of you will be disappointed with that decision. But I believe that, at this moment, our country, our values and our common vision for a transformed America are best served by the defeat of Donald Trump and the election of Hillary Clinton.” This was, unfortunately, the best Sanders could do ahead of the Democratic National Convention to ensure Clinton and her superdelegates don’t vote down every...

Stein, expected to become the party’s nominee at its August convention, says she has invited Sanders to collaborate: ‘Everything is on the table’ Bernie Sanders has been invited to continue his underdog bid for the White House by the Green party’s probable presidential candidate, who has offered to step aside to let him run. Jill Stein, who is expected to be endorsed at the party’s August convention in Houston, told Guardian US that “overwhelming” numbers of Sanders supporters are flocking to the Greens rather than Hillary Clinton. Stein insisted that her presidential bid has a viable “near term goal” of...

Jill Stein made the following statement about the FBI decision regarding Hillary Clinton's violations of national security laws as Secretary of State. Today FBI Director James Comey described Hillary Clinton's email communications as Secretary of State as "extremely careless." His statement undermined the defenses Clinton put forward, stating the FBI found 110 emails on Clinton's server that were classified at the time they were sent or received; eight contained information classified at the highest level, "top secret," at the time they were sent. That stands in direct contradiction to Clinton's repeated insistence she never sent or received any classified emails....

  • Mitt Romney Says He May Vote For His Wife Instead Of Donald Trump

Mitt Romney still can’t see himself voting for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. However, he can’t bring himself to vote for the Democratic counterpart, Hillary Clinton, either. But the 2012 GOP nominee has a solution: putting his own wife’s name on the ballot. “It’s a matter of personal conscience,” Romney told CBS News’ John Dickerson Wednesday at the Aspen Ideas Festival. “I can’t vote for either of those two people.” Romney explained that he simply cannot get behind Trump’s divisive character. “Our nominee is saying, ‘Hey look it’s these people here. It’s these Mexicans coming across the border... it’s...

Nativism is not an American value, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson declared Thursday, delivering a pointed rebuke to Donald Trump without mentioning his name while calling on an end to immigration quotas symptomatic of a broken system. “The overwhelming cause of illegal immigration and visa overstays is the fact that our legal immigration process simply doesn’t work, and that we impose absurd caps on various work visas,” Johnson said in a statement on Thursday with his remarks to the annual National Association of Latino Elected Officials conference in Washington. “Let the market, not bureaucrats and special interests, determine how many...

At Liberty Hangout, an article has detailed a boorish, foolish, insensitive, and careless action by the Libertarian candidate for President, former New Mexico Governor, Gary Johnson. The nomination was strongly contested by two other candidates, Austin Petersen and John McAfee.  Austin Petersen came in second, John McAfee came in third.  When Johnson won the nomination, Austin Peterson pledged his support, and he did so with a dramatic flourish.  From libertyhangout.org: As a token of good faith, Austin gave Johnson a replica of George Washington’s flintlock pistol, to let him know that he has Austin’s full support in the general election. A conservative donor who has been scouring Republican ranks for a third-party candidate is pressing ahead with a group to get on the ballot in dozens of states. The candidate will come once the group sees that the ballot access is possible. The donor, John Kingston, a bundler and ally of Mitt Romney, said he will bankroll a ballot-access project to create a path for someone to run as another option. The effort is being called Better for America. The idea is “to do a proof of concept for everybody,” Mr. Kingston said. “It exists, there is a pathway, there...

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has sunken to third place among independent voters, a new poll reveals. Clinton pulled just 22 per cent of the independent vote in the latest Fox News poll, finishing behind Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. Trump led among independents, pulling 32 per cent of the vote, while Johnson, a former governor of New Mexico, got 23 per cent. 'This is very bad news for Hillary Clinton,' Republican strategist Susan Del Percio told the New York Post. 'She needs independents to win in November.' Clinton did, however, show a three-point...
