George Marion Seignious, a former president of The Citadel and a World War II veteran, died Sunday from surgery complications, according to The Citadel's Web site. He was 84. Seignious, a Citadel graduate, was president of the state's military college from 1974 to 1979. After graduating from the National War College in June 1961, he spent four years in Europe in several positions, including chief of the staff of the Third Armored Division in Europe.
