All in the Family revolved around the life of a working class bigot named Archie Bunker and his family. The show set new broadcast standards by tackling issues previously considered unsuitable for U.S. network television comedy, such as racism, homosexuality, women's liberation, rape, miscarriage, abortion, breast cancer, and the Vietnam War. Throughout the 70's the series became one of television's most influential comic programs, as it interlaced radical issues of the day with the live audience sitcom format. In this episode, Its Thanksgiving and Archie decides its time to make sure that his future grandson is not raised an Atheist....

For the last 24 years of National Action Network's (NAN) existence, I have utilized Thanksgiving Day to serve and eat with the homeless and seniors at our headquarters in New York City. I chose to turn a day that I have serious problems with, given the history of what was done to Native Americans, into a day of family and community to show that we can extend ourselves beyond our own comfort. We will continue that tradition this Thursday, but I have also particularly reached out to Muslims to join us in our Harlem headquarters and chapters around the country...

Happens every Thanksgiving, doesn’t? Some bleeding heart liberal you’re “related to†gets on their moral high Crazy Horse and lectures about how horribly rotten the white man was to the Native Americans. Which is why this year we’re throwing in the tomahawk. Time to scalp the facts about the Indians. Feathers not dots. TRIGGER WARNING: offensive video at link. Transcript (without the sketch-cutaways or jokes) It’s Thanksgiving! You know what that means. As you try and enjoy your downtime with your family, you’ll undoubtedly find a social justice warrior around your Thanksgiving table trying to force-feed you white guilt. Afterall,...

It’s not as if this is the first time Barry has conflated terrorism with global warming: “Wednesday is Earth Day, a day to appreciate and protect this precious planet we call home. And today, there’s no greater threat to our planet than climate change.†It only seems like Islamo-fascists have been trying to wipe out Western civilization for as long as earth’s climate has been changing. “Stifle yourself! You’re causing global warming/cooling/climate change.â€The truth however is that the earth’s climate has been changing since it’s inception while the Muslim scourge has only been in our midst for the better part...

In the middle of December 1620 the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, leaving behind the sinfulness of the “old world†to make a “new Jerusalem†in America. Three years later, in November 1623, they had a great feast thanking God for getting them through an earlier famine, and now for a bountiful crop. What had created the earlier famine and then the bountiful crops? The story is told in the diary of Governor Bradford, who was one of the elders of that early Puritan colony. At first, they decided to turn their back on all the institutions of the England...

Many people naturally assume that since I work in political journalism, I must breathe, drink and eat politics 24/7/365 -- including on the Thanksgiving holiday. The thought of it gives me indigestion. Self-absorbed creatures who have no life outside the Beltway world are the most tiresome ogres. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest advised Americans "sitting around the Thanksgiving table" to talk about gun control. The left-wing National Memo published "5 Things To Tell Your Republican relatives at Thanksgiving." And The New York Times served up its own version of "How to Talk to Your Relatives About Politics at Thanksgiving,"...

Feel free to cross-post this to other boards of which you may be a member. In keeping with the Thanksgiving spirit, I thought I'd put this up for those who are going to deep fry their turkey and especially for those who will be attempting to deep fry their first turkey. Make sure you use fresh peanut oil for the frying. You can reuse the oil up to 3 times (2 is preferable) if you're deep frying multiple turkeys. NOTE: If you have a deep fryer that says it can hold an 18 lb. turkey, DO NOT use a turkey...

I'd like to hear fellow FReeper comments on this current Twitter phenomenon. It seems to be a strong spotlight on what is wrong with race relations in this country right now. There is a hashtag trending right now, #Thanksgivingwithblackfamilies. It's everything warm and funny and self-deprecating. It's a joy to read and see the funny meme photo or gif choices for their tweets. There are even comments from people about how much they love their people and their families. I am white but it's somehow relatable to me anyway and I really enjoyed reading this hashtag. Themes to the tweets...

This was sent to me by my Uncle Robert, a retired CPA and WW II veteran. Perhaps some Freepers may find it beneficial this Thanksgiving. May God bless you and your families. Count your blessings instead of your crosses. Count your gains instead of your losses. Count your joys instead of your woes. Count your friends instead of your foes. Count your smiles instead of your tears. Count your courage instead of your fears. Count your full years instead of your lean. Count your kind deeds instead of your mean. Count your health instead of your wealth. Count on God...

Do you realize we've been giving thanks for almost 400 years?" "Ah, yes, you refer our country's Thanksgiving tradition, which originated with the very first Thanksgiving in November 1621. But did you know that much of our Thanksgiving tradition is based on a myth?" "What do you mean myth?" "According to The Christian Science Monitor, everything historians know about the first Thanksgiving is based on the accounts of two colonists: Gov. William Bradford and a fellow named Edward Winslow." "Go on." "In 1621, in a letter to a friend, Winslow said that after a plentiful harvest, the 53 remaining...

In preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, Oceana on the Potomac wishes to point out that – while there is nothing to worry about - you should be vigilant as you travel through those jam-packed airports this week because there are “a few bad apples†out there. Also, while you’re free to celebrate as you see fit the Ministry of Truth would just like you to keep in mind that Thanksgiving actually commemorates America’s colonial, imperialist, racist, genocidal past. Butt if you white people want to go on pretending that it is a day set aside to thank the Creator...

The first Christmas tree on our block popped up the day after Halloween. Soon enough, garlands of white lights began to adorn neighborhood trees and doorways. It's Christmas -- except that it's not. From what I can see, Thanksgiving has yet to be acknowledged, much less observed. I have no particular observations to make concerning our new habit of compressing all our October-December commemorations into "The Holiday Season." I'll remark only on the eclipse of Thanksgiving, which could be due to a number of factors. Perhaps it's the lack of compelling decorating themes, as contrasted with Halloween and Christmas. Another...

This Thanksgiving, the Obama administration wants Americans to talk about why Congress won’t pass more gun control – but not about Obama’s foreign policy failures. During the White House press briefing, Press Secretary Josh Earnest continued to press a narrative set up by gun control activists in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris. “As people sitting around the Thanksgiving table talking about these issues as they should and I’m sure they will all across the country, I hope that’s a question that will be raised and asked by members around the table,†Earnest said, referring to a bill...

Donald Trump tops a new poll of candidates Americans think are most likely to say something inappropriate during Thanksgiving and ruin the meal. The survey from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling finds that 46 percent of Americans think Trump would say something to kill the mood surrounding the turkey feasting.

Thanksgiving: Are You Thankful That God Has Provided Free Republic? It's a simple question. It can be answered immediately with a yes or a no. If yes, then let me encourage you to support this site that offers you a chance to have your say unhindered by the establishment trolls found on most other websites. Why thankful to God? Of course, we're thankful first for His providing us with salvation, with abundant blessings, with families, with freedom to practice our faith. But, you know, and I know that Free Republic does not infringe on any of those blessings but actually...

Just after the Paris terror attacks last week, I wrote about how I thought they could go down in history as the catalyst that coalesced countries in the West and beyond into a World War III. Since then, other nations’ responses and increased terror attacks have only confirmed that we’ve entered into an unprecedented time in human history and war. Pundits and politicians on both sides of the aisle criticize both the U.S. Congress and President Obama for not officially doing more to fight ISIS. Constitutionally speaking, as commander in chief of the armed forces, the president has the power...

I'm not bragging, because it isn't my recipe. In fact, I have no doubt that many of you out there will have Thanksgiving turkeys equally as good or better than what I will cook. However, my sister-in-law most definitely makes the BEST dessert for Thanksgiving. Only THREE people in the world know the recipe: Her mother, my sister-in-law, and my niece, her daughter, Genesis the Mermaid. It is soooooo good that I have begged my sister-law-to enter the Pillsbury baking contest. The reason why she would probably win is that her dessert is incredible in terms of taste, texture, and...
