Incumbent Republican Ken Paxton has established a large lead over Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush in the upcoming runoff for attorney general, according to a new poll released this week. According to a new poll from the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation, Paxton is leading the race for attorney general with 65 percent of support among “likely” voters, against Bush’s 23 percent. When the survey respondents are filtered to just be “almost certain voters,” Paxton’s lead grows to 71 percent versus 20 percent for Bush.

The FBI has reportedly issued at least one federal subpoena for records from the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) amid an investigation over allegations of bribery and abuse of office. Local outlet KVUE reported on Thursday that the subpoena was issued the day prior, however it is not immediately clear what information was requested by the FBI. The subpoena comes amid an ongoing investigation after members of Paxton's staff raised red flags about actions Paxton allegedly took to benefit Nate Paul, an Austin investor and wealthy donor. A group of current and former Paxton aides sent a...

U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director Neil Kornze responded to the April letters from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about the Red River land dispute between the federal government and the State of Texas. Senator Cruz, in his letter to Kornze, reiterated Abbott’s points from his letter and added his own inquiry: “Please confirm that BLM does not take the position that it has rights to ownership or control of any of the 90,000 acres of land along the Red River that are at the center of this controversy or similarly situated land....

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott slammed the federal Bureau of Land Management’s claims that private property within the state now belongs to the federal government. The BLM says the federal government owns a 90,000 acre piece of land along Texas’s Red River, despite it being maintained and cultivated by private landowners for generations and no law has been passed by Congress giving BLM ownership of the land. In the wake of cattle rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with federal agents over desert tortoise habitat in Nevada, Abbott — who is currently running for governor — argues that BLM’s plans to seize...

After Breitbart Texas reported on the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) intent to seize 90,000 acres belonging to Texas landholders along the Texas/Oklahoma line, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott questioned the BLM’s authority to take such action. “I am about ready,” General Abbott told Breitbart Texas, “to go to go to the Red River and raise a ‘Come and Take It’ flag to tell the feds to stay out of Texas.” Gen. Abbott sent a strongly-worded letter to BLM Director Neil Kornze, asking for answers to a series of questions related to the potential land grab. “I am deeply...

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott wrote a letter to President Obama on Tuesday saying that the state will head to court over the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty should Mr. Obama sign it and the U.S. Senate ratify it. “The UN has concluded its negotiations on the Arms Trade Treaty,” Mr. Abbot writes. “It is now up to you to sign it — or reject it. Do not sign this treaty.” Mr. Abbott writes that he understands the apparent purpose is to combat illegal arms trafficking around the world, but that the treaty could draw law-abiding gun owners and gun...
