But this episode in Knoxville, Tenn., was so extreme and well-documented that the local sheriff fired the officer immediately. Frank Phillips, a Knox County Sheriff’s officer, was fired Sunday night after a series of pictures taken by photographer John Messner were published in the Daily Mail in Britain. They showed an officer identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Phillips grabbing 21-year-old college student Jarod Dotson around the neck and squeezing him until he fell to his knees.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 7-year-old Tennessee girl woke up Thursday to go to school and found both of her parents shot do death inside the home, WREG is reporting. The girl called police around 7 a.m. and told dispatchers she found both her parents shot. Police confirmed a man and a woman in their 20s were found dead at the home. The names of the victims have not been released. Neighbors told WREG the couple had several children and all were “very young.”

The White House and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) solicited millions in donations from private health care companies for a nonprofit organization to promote Obamacare, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
