Texas Sen. Ted Cruz praised the relief efforts of Glenn Beck and Mercury One in the border town of McAllen, Texas on Saturday, where the charity Beck founded worked to provide food, clothing, water and toys to the illegal immigrant children who have been streaming into the U.S.But Cruz also stressed the importance of sending those kids back home.“Let me say thank you to Mercury One, thank you to Glenn, for leading on this issue, for raising over two million dollars to provide food, to provide medicine, to provide toys to these kids,†Cruz said. “These children, while they’re here,...

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) characterization of the U.S.-Mexico border as “secure” by telling his colleague to come take a look for himself. “President Obama and Harry Reid both engage debates divorced from the facts and divorced from the reality,” Cruz said on Fox News Sunday. “Harry Reid lives in the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., and I’m sure from his perspective the border seems secure. I would invite Harry Reid to come with me down Texas and see the border.” “I’ll tell you who is holding these kids ransom,” Cruz continued, “Harry Reid...

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz told a cheering crowd of conservatives Saturday night that the next U.S. president should shutter the much-maligned Internal Revenue Service and turn the agency's 110,000 employees loose to police the U.S.-Mexico border. 'That's slightly tongue-in-cheek,' he said in Denver at the Western Conservative Summit. 'But think about it for a second: You travel thousands of miles, you cross over and see 110,000 IRS agents? You'd turn around and go home!' [Snip] The normally stolid and bloated GOP establishment, he hinted Saturday, is dismayed at his rise to prominence among tea party sympathizers and other grass-roots...

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday urged supporters to sign a petition to end what he said was “Obama’s amnesty,” a program authorized Obama that allows certain undocumented immigrants to stay in the U.S. without fear of being deported. Cruz took to social media on Saturday to spur attention to his proposals. “Join the fight to stop the crisis on the border -- sign the petition to #StopObamasAmnesty,” Cruz wrote on his Facebook and Twitter. The Tea Party favorite is pushing legislation that would defund the program to prevent it from being expanded. Cruz says his bill should be a...

There are three questions surrounding Hillary Clinton: Will she run? If she runs, will she win? And if she wins, will she be President Barack Obama in a skirt or Bill Clinton in a pantsuit? Will She Run? The Hillary Inevitability, far in advance of the 2016 U.S. presidential election, has a “déjà vu all over again” atmospheric. That's because 2008 was really supposed to be Hillary’s year: She had the highest name recognition, deep financing, major political backers and her politically canny husband to game-plan campaign tactics. But a funny thing happened on the way to the nomination: "Black...

On his Friday radio show, Glenn Beck suggested those who do not want to pass out soccer balls and teddy bears to illegal immigrant children at detention centers with him are "pusses." He also said Americans should not "focus" on the gangsters, killers, and rapists who are coming across the border with the illegal immigrant children two days after Breitbart Texas reported that an illegal immigrant whom the federal government released in June with a "notice to appear" was arrested for murder. While discussing his plans to go to McAllen, Texas on Saturday with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep....

DENVER — Sarah Palin, Sen. Ted Cruz and former Sen. Jim DeMint are headlining a gathering of some 2,500 at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver. The summit at the Hyatt Regency and Colorado Convention Center culminates Sunday with a straw poll to gauge attendees' early choices for a 2016 presidential nominee....

WASHINGTON – Blaming a recent surge in young border-crossers on the president, Sen. Ted Cruz waded into the crisis Thursday with a bill to reverse a 2012 order protecting child migrants from deportation.“The staggering conditions that children are being subjected to are a direct result of the amnesty that President Obama illegally and unilaterally enacted in 2012, which caused the number of unaccompanied minors to skyrocket,” Cruz said. “The only way to stop the border crisis is to stop President Obama’s amnesty.”Obama ordered the policy — known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA – to shield immigrants brought into...

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, today introduced legislation to prevent the Obama Administration from using any taxpayer funds to expand DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and from continuing to lawlessly grant amnesty and work permits to new immigrants who enter the country illegally. He also outlined guiding principles that Congress should keep in mind when considering reforms. “We all recognize the terrible humanitarian crisis that is occurring at the border, and all of us should come together to end the policies that have caused it,†said Sen. Cruz. “Tens of thousands of children are being smuggled...

Should the Democrats nominate Elizabeth Warren for President in 2016, as a draft-Warren movement, some liberal pundits and enthusiasts at this week’s Netroots Nation convention believe? Should Republicans nominate Ted Cruz, who has kept his options open with frequent trips to Iowa and New Hampshire? In some ways, Cruz and Warren are mirror images, and the cases for and against them are surprisingly similar. But there are also some critical differences. Before 2008, the idea of a presidential contest between two first-term Senators in their (by then) fourth year in Washington would have seemed ridiculous; in 1988, Dan Quayle was roundly...

Heritage Action called for the end of President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program, making an argument that dovetails with legislation offered by Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) as a solution to the border crisis. The Heritage Foundation’s James Carafano denounced the program in a Thursday op-ed. ’The president’s 2012 policy for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, regardless of the Oval Office’s intent, sets a precedent that encourages further unlawful migration, particularly among minors,” Carafano wrote. ”It leaves those in the program mired in uncertainty as to their future status. It resolves nothing, encourages the problem to grow and is a detriment...

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz confirmed Thursday that he will be joining Glenn Beck and Mercury One at the border in McAllen, Texas, on Saturday to feed, clothe, and provide toys for illegal immigrant children. Catherine Frazier, a spokeswoman for the senator, told TheBlaze in an email: “Tens of thousands of children are being smuggled into the United States by dangerous drug cartels and transnational gangs – it is heartless to allow that to continue.” “But while we work to reverse the policies that have caused this tragedy, it is important we recognize the human element of this crisis, and Sen....

Liberals just aren't very liberal these days. The word “liberal” comes from the Latin word meaning freedom, and in the 19th century liberals in this country and abroad stood for free speech, free exercise of religion, free markets, free trade -- for minimal state interference in people's lives. In the 20th century New Dealers revised this definition, by arguing that people had a right not only to free speech and freedom of religion, but also, as Franklin Roosevelt said in his 1941 Four Freedoms speech, freedom from fear and from want. Freedom from want meant, for Roosevelt, government provision of...

In what appears to be the ultimate modern demonstration of "drinking the Kool-Aid," Republicans across the spectrum seem to have entered a pact in sticking together to defend, and even celebrate, campaign tactics predicated on gross voter fraud and manipulation of minority voters. In fact, given recent campaign finance disclosures, it seems clear some Senate Republican leaders helped pay for the attacks on their own base in Mississippi. One senator, however, has broken the silence and is speaking out: Sen. Ted Cruz, who, ironically, holds an official position with the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Cruz has described the Mississippi...

As I’ve noted here before, the current crisis of unaccompanied minors crossing the border has had one upside. It has forced the actual GOP stance on immigration out into the open, increasingly boxing Republicans into a position where their main solution to the broader immigration crisis is effectively advocating for maximum deportations from the interior, including of the DREAMers. Now, as the battle over the crisis continues to roil the political landscape, the point is being underscored by none other than Ted Cruz: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz plans to take a hard-line stand that could rile up conservatives just as...

Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) unveiled legislation to shut down President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals’ program, and the bill is getting a mixed response among Republican colleagues.Cruz offered his bill as a plan to end the border crisis — and the suffering that takes place south of the border as children travel to the United States — by thwarting Obama’s policy of acting as if the DREAM Act has already passed.“The staggering conditions that children are being subjected to are a direct result of the amnesty that President Obama illegally and unilaterally enacted in 2012, which caused the...

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday introduced legislation that would defund the Obama administration program that allows some illegal immigrants to remain in the country without fear of deportation. Cruz is pressing to have the bill linked to the emergency funding that President Obama has requested to deal with the recent surge of Central American children illegally crossing into the United States. "The only way to stop the border crisis is to stop President Obama’s amnesty," Cruz said in a statement. "If we do not put an end to its expansion — to the promise of amnesty that is the...

Actually, per Breitbart, he’s working on two bills. One would repeal DACA, Obama’s 2012 executive order that suspended deportations for qualifying young illegals. The other, a more urgent priority, would block Obama from expanding DACA. That means no executive amnesty for the Central American children who’ve come here recently (although they could, I assume, still be allowed to stay under asylum laws) and, maybe, no executive amnesty for the five million adult illegals whom O has promised immigration activists he’ll help.Given the post-Romney terror within the GOP leadership over being demagogued as anti-Latino, I wonder if the bills will...
