When the Tea Party began in 2009, even those of us at the heart of the movement couldn’t have predicted how it would permanently alter America’s political landscape. Just six years later, it’s undeniably at the heart of American politics in spite of countless attacks from the political establishment and from the national media. Because of the Tea Party’s strength and influence, candidates who call themselves conservative must prove their bona fides to successfully court any grassroots support at all. Sen. Ted Cruz is a great example. Clearly a Tea Party favorite, Cruz has stood strong in the Senate for...

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's (R) announcement Saturday that he is leaving Fox News as he considers running for president again has regnited an old feud between himself and the conservative Club for Growth -- a spat that dates back nearly a decade. “In a year in which GOP voters appear likely to have several good pro-economic growth candidates to choose from, Mike Huckabee’s big government record would stand out from the crowd, and not in a good way," said Club for Growth president David McIntosh in a statement Monday. Huckabee, a strong retail campaigner with a loyal evangelical Christian...

The 2014 midterm elections gave state Republicans their largest political majorities of the modern political era. In Governor races, the GOP picked up a net 2 states, against expectations of a 2-seat loss. The party also holds 68 of the nation’s 98 partisan legislative chambers, a grip on state government not seen since the 1920s. In only seven deeply blue states do Democrats control both the legislature and the Governor’s mansion. Republicans hold or share control in every other state. Conservatives rightfully worry that Republicans in Washington will pursue a modest agenda with their Congressional majorities, but the states provide...

Conservative members of Congress are frustrated with House Speaker John Boehner’s (shown) leadership and are expected to opt for a change on January 6, when the official speaker’s election is held. While this vote is typically just a formality, conservative lawmakers are hoping to use the opportunity to remove the Ohio Republican, who has served as speaker since 2011. After the November elections, Republicans had decided behind closed doors that they would be nominating Boehner (R-Ohio) for speaker and did not offer any other nominees. “Rep. Boehner was selected as the House Republican Conference’s choice for Speaker last month,” Boehner...

Received a message this morning requesting a repeat of the National Day of Protest against amnesty that was held a couple of months ago. I'm all for it, but think this time it should be entitled, "National Day of Reckoning!" and should be repeated weekly for the duration. FR was instrumental in leading the fight for impeachment against the criminal Clinton. Well, Clintoon was a piker compared to our new tyrant. As much as the Republicans fear impeaching our first black president, I'm afraid it must be done. The Constitution demands it!! We cannot cower in fear as our wannabe...

Several Tea Party icons, including Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Sarah Palin, and former Representative Allen West (R-FL), are urging Tea Party activists around the country to help Republicans take back the majority in the U.S. Senate in next week’s 2014 mid-term elections through a low budget but heart-felt social media campaign of personalized YouTube videos. Dollar for dollar, these short YouTube pitches may end up being the most cost-effective assistance the Republican Party receives in the last week of the campaign. Targeted at the passionate Tea Party conservatives who powered the huge...

The New York Times yesterday featured a story about how the Tea Party has influenced the GOP on immigration: "On Capitol Hill, the Tea Party wing continues to drive the party’s agenda. Last winter, as House Republican leaders drafted their 'principles' for immigration overhaul, they largely disregarded the opponents of any form of legal status for immigrants in the country illegally, dismissing them as a loud but small minority.” Niger Innis, the executive director of TheTeaParty.net, the nation’s largest grassroots tea party organization and convener of regular Tea Party caucus events on Capitol Hill, issued the following statement: What we’re...

Howdy everyone!! We're loading up the FReepercampmobile today and will be departing for Texas this afternoon. God willing, we will arrive McAllen Texas sometime Thursday night and will plant our flag at our border encampment on the American bank of the Rio Grande River!! We had planned this expedition several weeks ago and were intending to urge Governor Perry to call out the Texas Guard and or Texas militia units at his disposal and also to learn first hand what's happening at the border and to protest the government's lawless actions there. The president will not secure the border, will...

Calling all citizens and patriots! Protest Obama's lawlessness on the border! Prepare to defend the border, repel invaders!! Obama's continuing lawlessness is totally out of control and is now threatening our very existence as a free Republic. Not only is he not securing the border, he's doing the exact opposite. They tried getting a "Dream Act" through the congress to give amnesty to young illegal aliens, but it was rejected by the representatives of we the people in congress, so the president has unconstitutionally "passed" his own "Dream Act" and is now enforcing it rather than the immigration laws legally...

We had about a hundred people present at our anti-illegal alien protest in Sacramento today. We had people representing Oath Keepers, Overpasses for America, Free Republic and other groups, including a contingent of volunteers from the Bolinas Border Patrol. There was only one counter protester that I'm aware of and in the end she gave in and took up an American flag and a "Secure the Borders" sign. I overheard her say, "OMG, I've always been a flaming liberal and now I'm a member of the tea party!" But she was also an admitted lunatic and possibly an escapee from...

A flurry of legislative activity to address the border crisis is emerging as a major showdown between Tea Partiers and establishment politicians. Conservatives want to take the fight directly to President Barack Obama, whose executive amnesty policies they say is the primary cause of the problem. Leading the charge on the right are Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, and Ted Cruz (R-TX), the wily Tea Party freshman. The political establishment, on the other hand, prefers a legislated fix to a 2008 anti-human trafficking law, which they cite as a key cause of the...

Today at the Mexican Consulate just south of downtown Houston a protest against the illegal alien border surge was staged by concerned patriots. Apparently the word got out to the opposition forces. There were 25 to 30 illegals and associated supporters there as well. Our side numbered from 40 to 50 while I was on site. We were staged on opposite sides of the street. The illegals (they proclaimed themselves so, chanting "undocumented and unafraid") had a small public address system and had a designated wise-ass on the mike leading chants and taunts which actually were pretty comedic. The...

Obama is the Antichrist, Republicans are heretics, and compromise is unholy. Politics can’t explain how the right acts.America has long been the incubator of many spiritual creeds going back to the Great Awakening and even earlier. Only one of them, Mormonism, has taken root and flourished as a true religion sprung from our own native ground. Today, however, we have a new faith growing from this nation’s soil: the Tea Party. Despite its secular trappings and “taxed enough already” motto, it is a religious movement, one grounded in the traditions of American spiritual revival. This religiosity explains the Tea Party’s...

More than half of the country has a message for former Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin: enough. That's the result from a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg poll in which 54 percent of voters say they've heard enough from Palin and would prefer that she be less outspoken in political debates. That includes nearly two-thirds of Democrats, a majority of independents, and even nearly four-in-10 Republicans. And the results come as Palin has called for President Barack Obama's impeachment. (VIDEO-AT-LINK)But Palin isn't the only former politician voters wish would stay away from politics. Fifty-one percent of voters say they've heard...

Mississippi Tea Party dreams were extirpated last week when State Senator Chris McDaniel lost his Republican primary bid to unseat Senator Thad Cochran. Yet if some of Mr. McDaniel’s most outspoken contemporaries are any guide, he may actually have greater political influence as a loser. Mr. McDaniel made clear this week that he was not giving up the fight, dashing off fund-raising emails declaring Mississippi’s Republican Senate runoff “a sham, plain and simple,” and offering rewards to individuals who “provide evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in voter fraud.” “Thanks to illegal voting from liberal Democrats,...

Not only does he refuse to enforce the law, but he openly invites this flood of illegal aliens to illegally cross the border into America while forcing the border patrol to stand down, and he looks to his criminal regime to give them safe harbor. Now he wants to dump them on the states against the will of the people. This is high crimes and treason and he must be held accountable. Obama is the most unlawful president ever! Congress must impeach!! These are just this morning's headlines on the Drudge Report: VIDEO: Coyote smuggles illegals across on jet ski...Migrants...

Christopher Hitchens got a chance to analyze the Tea Party in 2011, the same year cancer took his life. In a Vanity Fair article titled "Tea'd Off," the great polemicist explains that populist movements like the Tea Party are a reaction to social and political change. Hitchens writes that before the Revolutionary War costumes, America had seen a somewhat similar phenomenon with the John Birch Society: The John Birch Society possessed such a mainstream message--the existence of a Communist world system with tentacles in the United States--that it had a potent influence over whole sections of the Republican Party. It...

In the past few primary elections the Tea Party has won some and lost some. Lately it's been more "lost some" than "won some." Several months ago I wrote that the Tea Party was founded on an act of impersonation based on an act of deception. They named themselves and patterned themselves after a bunch of so-called Boston Patriots who decided to rebel over a tax on tea by sneaking aboard a vessel that had received a shipment of tea and dumping the tea into the Boston Harbor. In order to conceal this criminal act from the authorities they dressed...
