DENVER (AP) - State lawmakers have introduced a bill that would require school districts to report teacher violations to the state within 24 hours, amid reports of public school teachers involved in unlawful behavior with students -- including sexual misconduct. Golden Democratic Representative Gwyn Green introduced the bill yesterday. It would strip school boards and the state Board of Education of immunity from lawsuits if they fail to do hiring background checks for teachers. Pamela Rogers Turner was charged this week with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape. Turner teaches and coaches at Centertown Elementary School in McMinnville. South Haven - A West Michigan middle school teacher is in jail, charged with molesting a student. Police say Elizabeth Miklosovic, from Grand Rapids, was a teacher at South Haven Middle School. She is charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct of a female student.Police say a mentor-type relationship with a 14 year old eighth grader turned into a sexual one.
