Civilian casualties in Afghanistan hit a record high this year, a UN report says, highlighting worsening violence as US-led troops leave the country after more than a decade of fighting the Taliban. Casualties jumped 19 per cent by the end of November compared to the year before, with 3,188 civilians killed and 6,429 injured, the United Nation's Mission's for Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a report. The mind-numbing savagery of radical Islam plumbed new depths in Pakistan yesterday. Taliban terrorists shouting “Allahu akbar” attacked the Army Public School and Degree College in Peshawar, slaughtering 142 people, including 132 children between the ages of six and 16. Another 10 staff members, including the principal, were also murdered. “They didn’t take any hostages initially and started firing in the hall,” said Maj. Gen. Asim Bajwa, a military spokesman.

For what it's worth, the Taliban kill 126 children, claiming that education is poison. In a related note, the very word Taliban comes from the root word Talib, meaning student. They were created in schools, armed themselves with the certainty that they therefore understood everything, and formed the organization "The students". The only reason I post this is that I haven't seen this remarked upon yet. With such astonishing hipocrisy, it must be that the Taliban are an offshoot of progressivism.

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A top Pakistani official says that 84 students have been killed in a Taliban attack on a military-run school in the northwestern city of Peshawar. Pervez Khattak, the chief minister of the province where the attack is underway, says that roughly the same number of students have been wounded. According to Khattak, the 84 killed in the Tuesday attack were all "children" but hospital officials earlier said at least one of the fatalities was a teacher and one security official were also among the dead. Khattak says the fighting is still unfolding at the school.
