A Swedish police investigator triggered a media tsunami with a Facebook post linking violent crimes with immigrants. Peter Springare received an outpouring of support from fellow officers and common Swedes, as well as some accusations of racism. Springare is a senior investigator at the serious crimes division at the Örebro Police Department with 47 years under his belt. In the Saturday post he said what he was going to say would not be politically correct and that saying such things could harm an officer’s position or pay grade, but he was about to retire and didn’t care.

More than 25,000 officers have been “war placed” as the Scandinavian nation bolsters its national defences against potential threats. The order was given by the police chief at the end of January as every police officer is expected to know their role if a war or crisis should erupt. The decision to implement the Government order, which was taken in 2015 after Russia invaded Ukraine and illegally annexed Crimea, affects 28,500 police officers. Most of the officers will remain in their current roles and counties, even if an emergency situation should occur, however, some might be ordered to serve in...

Sweden's deputy PM is causing a stir after posting an image appearing to parody Donald Trump's signing of an anti-abortion executive order. Isabella Lovin, who is also the country's climate minister, published a photo that shows her signing a new law surrounded by female colleagues. The image has drawn comparisons with Mr Trump's photo in which no women were present. Within hours the post was shared and liked thousands of times on Facebook. "Wonderful Picture! Hope you sent it to the man on the other side of the ocean," writes one user. "Make the Planet Great Again!" writes another. Facebook...

Sweden will extend border controls and ID checks in the south of the country by a further three months, the country's government has confirmed. The border controls at ports in the south of Sweden and on the Swedish side of the Öresund Bridge to Denmark were brought in during the autumn of 2015, a year where Sweden received a record 163,000 asylum applications. ID checks on trains crossing the Öresund Bridge were introduced soon after. The measures in the passport-free Schengen zone are only supposed to be temporary and originally designed to last six months, but they were extended by...

A mysterious UFO-shaped cloud baffled skiers when it appeared in the sky over Sweden. The bizarre cloud floated in the sky over ski resorts Åre and Duved on Thursday, prompting some to speculate that Martians had arrived for a day on the slopes. Many rushed to take pictures of the unusual phenomenon and posted them on social media. "I thought it was pretty cool," one of them, Elvira Kuper, told broadcaster SVT. Experts explained it was a so-called lenticular cloud, which forms over mountain peaks when the air is forced to rise as it hits the hillside. As it cools...

Transgender people will no longer be classified as “mentally ill” in Sweden, the country’s main national health authority has announced, in a decision widely criticized as overdue. Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare, or Socialstyrelsen, announced late on Friday that it would no longer automatically apply the diagnosis “gender dysphoria” to transgender patients. “…more than anything, this change has an important symbolic value,’ Kristina Bränd Persson, the organization’s head, said in a press release. “This is a completely reasonable change. Many divisions and categories are obsolete. For us, the decision is uncontroversial. We tend to follow the changes the...

Drama teacher and actor Mohammad Arvan has started classes for ‘unaccompanied minors’ in which he tells the young migrants how to pick up Swedish women. The Örebro resident says the two hour classes have much improved his students’ flirting techniques and told SVT he plans to run a course to teach Swedish men how they should approach women. “In the beginning they were completely useless at picking up women,” Arvan said of the migrant youths, aged between 15 and 17, who he instructs each week on a Wednesday. “They just went up and asked for their phone number. Which, of...

Welcome to our brave new digital world in which raping women is all fun and games: Police are reportedly investigating the suspected gang rape of a woman after the attack was live-streamed on Facebook. An online witness said the victim had her clothes pulled off by armed men and was sexually assaulted before cops arrived and turned off the camera. According to Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, three people have been arrested after the alleged attack was broadcast in a closed Facebook group last night. Dutch website De Dagelijkse Standaard (of which I'm editor-in-chief) adds that the three suspects have been identified....

Two migrants from Afghanistan have been arrested over the three-hour gang rape of a woman that was broadcast on Facebook Live. The men, aged 18 and 20, have been remanded in custody following the attack in Sweden last week. A 24-year-old man from Sweden was arrested for failing to report rape. The three, who cannot be legally identified under Swedish law, have not been charged. In Sweden a person suspected of a serious crime can be detained without being charged with the approval of a court. But this is only if there is a risk they will flee the country....

A case of double bluff – this was the conclusion Swedish internet users reached after a Swedish website presenting itself as the next in a series of websites devoted to checking facts and challenging disinformation turned out to be doing the contrary of what it claimed – not checking but reinforcing disinformation. As we have reported, awareness of the disinformation problem is growing both globally, via e.g. the First Draft News project and self-help initiatives, and locally in many EU Member States, e.g. France, Denmark and Sweden, where e.g. theViralgranskaran project now counts more than 70,000 followers in Facebook.

Total blackout: The Swedish government says no, and refuses to submit statistics on immigrant crime. They are also reluctant to explain why. On Sunday, the issue of mapping the various groups represented in crime statistics was discussed in SVT's Agenda, on national TV. It is 11 years since the last time such statistics were put forward in Sweden. Would they consider doing it again? No, not a chance! And not only that, they would not even debate the issue. Not with the Sweden Democrats (SD) at least. The entire left - the governing parties plus the supporting party V -...

Many were mourning in Malmö on Friday after a 16-year-old boy was shot dead in the city. “Rest in peace,” read many messages left on the Facebook wall of the victim on Friday. Family, friends and Malmö residents paid tribute to the 16-year-old student, Ahmed, who died on Thursday evening after he was found with gunshot injuries in the city’s Rosengård district. […] The boy’s father, who moved with his family from Iraq to Sweden when Ahmed was seven years old, told newspaper Sydsvenskan that his son had wanted to become a doctor. “We fled war and misery to find...

A voice in the distance a wave in the air, But bearing no fruit except despair, A leader once of a country beloved, But now he attacks the messenger from above, The Dove of freedom he claims to hold, But truly in his hand is a hammer not gold, Denying The " T " ruth of "I AM "(JESUS), Causing grief to sacred land ! Soon he shall be revealed as that angel of old, That fell to the earth being vane and bold, His heart is black as his soul, But soon every one shall know, The Abomination about...

The number of Swedes claiming to have been sexually assaulted has risen by 70 per cent in two years, with more than 13 per cent of women reporting to be too fearful to go out in the evening. In 2014, just 1 per cent of Swedes said they had been sexually attacked, jumping to 1.7 per cent of the population in 2015 – equivalent to about 129,000 people.

After a pair of Syrian men were taken in as refugees, liberal volunteers helped them open their own business — a Middle Eastern hookah shop. However, as soon as authorities came to inspect the suspicious business, they discovered a stomach-churning surprise in the shop’s basement. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, Europe’s beacon of liberal policy has been afflicted with yet another shocking crime that’s rocked the nation. Sweden, now considered the “rape capital of the West” due to their inexhaustible resettlement of migrants, has once again watched as their leftist agenda produces another victim of multiculturalism...

Photographer Freddy Mardell was planning on enjoying an evening out on Saturday when the mob launched their rampage in Malmo. Describing scenes of horror, the Swede said one thug was calling for “jihad” while standing on top of a car in the city centre. Mr Mardell told Friatider: “An Arab jumped on the roof of a car and yelled 'Jihad! Jihad!’ repeatedly. “Swedish teenagers gathered in a large group to avoid being robbed.” Continuing, the photographer claimed police, who were out in force as NYE celebrations in the area are known to get out of hand, were too afraid to...

“It’s also the case that when police are there they can be a target for someone who wants to shoot a rocket at them, so it’s difficult for them to police. No arrests were made and no police reports filed however.” In the early hours of the morning, Malmo police were also forced to shoot a 28-year-old man in the leg twice after a short stand off. Officers were called out at around 5.30am after someone was “feeling ill”, however at the scene they found an axe and knife-wielding male. “When the patrol arrived they found the man intimidating, which...
