A spokesperson for the Treasury Department told the Washington Free Beacon that survival kits being ordered for government workers at every major bank in the United States are for “emergency preparedness.” .......“The solicitation is to replace aging kits and provide kits at additional location out of a preponderance of caution,” Collins added. Once the government finds a bidder, each of OCC’s 3,814 employees will receive a survival kit, which will come in a fanny-pack or backpack that can fit all of the items, including a 33-piece personal first aid kit with “decongestant tablets,” a variety of bandages, and medicines. The...

The Essentials Puck, one of six versions from the company, has basic survival tools including a Bic lighter, a small knife, an LED light, whistle, a tiny compass, duct tape, aluminum wire, a pencil, paper, a safety pin, aluminum foil, and 72 inches of paracord. All this fits in a palm-size puck that’s waterproof and lightweight at 3.5 ounces. It costs just $15.75. The company sells similarly stocked pucks for first aid, medicine, fire-starting, illumination, and water purification. The pieces in each puck are basic but of good quality. The container itself, a sturdy waterproof case, slips unseen into a...

When winter weather starts to get ugly, it’s times like this that your hour-long commute on the interstate can turn into an unexpected adventure, leaving you stuck in a snowy ditch miles from help. In most cases you can expect to be there for no more than a few hours, says Tony Nester, founder of the Ancient Pathways survival school in Flagstaff, Ariz. and author of the e-book A Vehicle Survival Kit You Can Live With. “Statistically, you’re more likely to encounter small scale episodes where there’s a blizzard, you spin off the road and you’re there for maybe a...

SEALs aren’t supposed to find themselves in trouble that they can’t get out of. That’s why the Navy is seeking to buy 300 new survival kits for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, sometimes known as Navy SEAL Team 6. They’re the guys who raided Osama bin Laden’s compound in May 2011 and sent him on an all-expenses-paid trip to the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Save for the downed stealthy MH-60 Black Hawk chopper, the mission was a grand success. But, being military men, they have to prepare for worst-case scenarios. That’s where Wednesday’s solicitation for what they call...

Zombie Survival Kit features real tactical ax and a spork Be prepared for the dead to rise again with a zombie kit containing a tomahawk, snacks, zombie crime scene tape, and a spork. You have options when it comes to zombie-slaying weapons. Loud guns may attract unwanted zombie attention. Baseballs bats can require several swats to work. Chainsaws need gas. A tactical ax, however, is portable and effective. ThinkGeek's Zombie Survival Kit features a stainless-steel SOG Tactical Tomahawk, suitable for close combat or hurling from a distance at the undead. Zombie crime scene tape helps you alert other survivors to...

I need some help. In my office I can only listen to AM on-line. Usually I listen to KWOS am 950 out of Missouri. Generally, this is a pretty good station and their line-up is great. They go from Neal Boortz, to Rush then to Sean. Lately, they have been off-air quite often and I am getting sick of it. Do any of you listen to Rush on line? If so, please post your stations of choice. The same line up would be preferred, but Rush only is better than nothing...... Thanks, FRiends!
