Murder police in Chicago have recorded the worst January in more than a decade for homicides - after more than 50 killings in the city in one month. Detectives had to investigate 51 homicides between January 1 and 31 - up 75 percent compared to the same period in 2015 and the worst figures since 2000. A bloody start to the year has also seen city officials log double the number of shooting in the first month of 2016 compared to the same time last year with nearly 242 separate incidents.
